Ram 2500 SLT Turbo Diesel

  • Automatic transmission
  • 58,000 miles

Turbo Diesel vacuum pump started leaking oil approx. 6 months prior to repair. Vehicle was repaired due to torn seal and loss of vacuum, ie no power brakes, etc. Dealer stated that the pump wasn't covered under the Cummins extended warranty and wanted about $3800.00 to repair. I was able to talk them down to $2300, but still didn't want to pay. My regular mechanic informed me of a rebuilt pump from a guy on EBAY (RAMTRANS1). He invented and patented a new seal system for this pump that makes it superior to the OEM and other rebuilt units, whereas the OEM etc would eventually leak again. It cost about $300 for the pump and he paid the return shipping for the core, and about another $200-$300 to R&R it. Again....no thanks to the dealer for a common problem with no recall!!
