Truck has 90,000 miles on it, the problem is the lift pump that feeds the "solid gold" injection pump, at least you'd think it was solid gold for what they want for them, about $1500. This is the second one, the first one went out at 40,000 miles.
Dodge knows this is a problem from '98 till 02 because the 03's and newer or totally different, they couldn't make it reliable so they just re-designed it, this is a DIESEL, it's suppose to run without these type problems--------- a two bit lift pump feeding a expensive injection pump. When the lift pump fails it stops feeding the IP and starves it for fuel and it burns up, duh!

Cummins knows this is a problem but all they do is upgrade the pump, and it sure doesn't help. After changing the pump I drove it about 300 miles and the pump failed again. One would think that since a Cummins is such a good motor that they would have a fix for the problem.
