The dealer said that it needed a new fuel injection pump. This is the second pump in 3 years. I am pissed off about this I don't have the money and dodge needs to pay for it. This pump only lasted 45000 miles. It only had a one year warranty and 12000 miles on it. It has been a really good truck except for this. Not sure what to do now. Working on the chrysler customer service. So far it doesn't look good. Any suggestions?

I had the fuel pump run the injection pump lean causing it to burn out. The problem was noted by chrysler that there was a problem because is was happening alot. I took the truck to a top diesel mechanic and they checked with Chrysler and said yes there was a problem. Chrysler never had a recall and there were no warning lights to note the problem until your truck totally stopped and was inoperable. I had a idiot light sensor added so if the fuel pressure drop below 4 lbs of pressure I could shut the truck off and hopefully no damage. I also installed two fuel pumps one internal and one external so I should not (so far) have the problem again. I destroyed my wallet at the tune of $5000. Chrysler would not back my waranty because i was 30 days over the 5 years. I had it towed from Chrysler dealership where I had it finally fixed.

Has anyone just for hell of it ! taking the pump apart to see why or what is the problem? well I have and this is what I found out, too save money, they have used glue too hold the two gears onto the shaft !!!! What are they trying to prove ? or what every the reason may be . it nothing more then just a joke. This is my first & last dodge never again !!! PS there is more things I could say and there not good by any means . I really hate this truck !!!!!!!!!!
Update from Apr 27, 2012: the fuel pump is made by carter ,you can buy the pump from NAPA for about $ 90.00. Now this is what I don't understand, why is the same pump from dodge cost $350.00 + ????? Like I said, never will I buy a dodge again . it is a good thing there not making airplanes or do they?
