problem #2

Feb 012004

Ram 2500 5.9L Diesel

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,000 miles

From about 2004 until 2012, the fuel gauge would intermittently drop to zero, the chime would ring, then the gauge would go back to normal. Since it started while the truck was in warranty, the dealer tried to fix the problem by replacing the instrument cluster. Did not fix the problem. In 2012, the problem went away, but a new, similar problem has take its place. Now the air bag light comes on intermittently and the chime rings. Sometimes it will ring 6-7 times per minute.

problem #1

Oct 082009

Ram 2500 XLT 5.7L Hemi

  • Automatic transmission
  • 122,236 miles

Fuel gauge randomly blanks out to ZERO fuel level (including low fuel alarm sound), even with a full tank. Turning engine off, then back on usually resets the gauge. Sounds like a loose connection somewhere, not sure where to start looking.
