problem #1

Jul 162017

Ram 2500 SLT 6.9L Cummins

  • Automatic transmission
  • 56,000 miles

My steering "freezes". Basically, when turning slightly, and so far only at a slow speed, the steering will freeze. For example, when starting from a stop sign and veering slightly left, when I try to steer back to the right, the steering locks up. To unfreeze it, I turn a little more left which "releases" the frozen wheel. Naturally, I have always gotten off the accelerator at the same time so there may be some coincidence with that.

I had this happen a few years ago and I believe the dealer replaced belts and the problem went away. This truck only has 56,000 miles on it so to have this come back again within 10,000 miles is concerning.

This has only occurred during times of high humidity and pretty warm / hot temperatures so that also may be a contributing factor.

I saw one other post with this so hoping there may be others among you who have successfully fixed this issue.
