The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500. While driving various speeds in inclement weather, the vehicle began to violently shake when the four wheel drive was engaged. Weeks later, the failure recurred while driving on the beach. The failure only occurs while the vehicle is in motion and is accompanied by a loud noise. There were no warning lights prior to the failure. The dealer was able to duplicate the failure and stated that the behavior of the vehicle was a common characteristic. The manufacturer did not provide any assistance. The failure mileage was 10,000 and current mileage was 15,000. Updated 09/03/08 the consumer stated the failure only occurred in loose sand or snow. The vehicle exhibited a wheel hop whenever the rear wheels spun. Updated 09/04/08.
