The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated that the transfer case was making abnormal shifting sounds while the vehicle was parked. The contact stated that the transfer case was replaced; however, the failure persisted. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was parked while he was working in the garage. The contact stated that he heard a clicking sound coming from the engine, and the vehicle started rolling backwards towards the street. The contact stated that he immediately entered the vehicle and engaged the electronic parking brake, and the vehicle stopped. The contact also stated that the vehicle hesitated to shift into the proper gear while driving. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in TSB Number: 18-091-22. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the computer was flashed; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and contacted the dealer; however, no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 223,800.

I was driving on I-75 @70mph, a loud bang happened, truck shut off, I guided it off the road. I had wires hanging I looked further and seen the front drive shaft blew apart. My mechanic said it had locked up. The transfer case, transmission, floor board of the truck was also all damaged. Also said I was lucky that the truck did not cause a serious accident. This truck is a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 hd. Well taken care of. No given reason why this happened. My mechanic said he has seen this many times in the Dodge trucks that the front drive shaft blows apart. Total damages will be the cost of $8,000-$10,000

Column shifter lever had been difficult to move for months from P (park) to any other gear (R, D, 1-2-3). The shifting mechanism broke today after I started the engine (truck had been parked overnight in my home's driveway) when I tried to move the shifter from park to reverse to exit the driveway and drive vehicle elsewhere. Shifter will not engage transmission into any gear now; truck is not drivable. Required an oversize rollback tow truck to come get it and take it to a repair shop since my pickup has a long bed.

We were driving down a freeway and on our way to the beach and suddenly the truck vibrated violently and we heard a loud noise, we were able to pull almost to the shoulder when the truck came to a complete stop. We tried to restart it but it won't run, the drive shaft fell off the truck and was lying on the middle of the highway, the rear wheel was locked. We were lucky that we were driving early in the morning when there was not much traffic, if not that would have caused a very serious if not fatal accident. We have 4 people in the truck towing a boat and my wife is 3-month pregnant. We were thankful that there was a shoulder there for us to react in about 3 seconds we got before it broke down completely. We could have lost our baby or ourselves if there were a lot of traffic moving fast. Usually a little later in the day. We waited almost 5 hours for the tow truck to come, and have to ask for help to take us home. The truck was towed to aamco nearby and has been there for 12 days waiting for them to order parts. We were told that the U-joints were bad and not installed correctly that caused the drive shaft to fell and destroyed the whole rear end bottom. The repair cost is almost $2000. From my research, there have been many complaints about this as a common problem in Dodge Ram, and Dodge had a recall on this but only on certain models and years and ours is not included which it should have been, to prevent a deadly accident. I contacted a Dodge dealer and they just said it's caused by wear and tear, but wear and tear shouldn't be a reason it can cause a deadly accident.

Clutch pedal will occasionally not disengage the clutch after extended vehicle operation, particularly in hot ambient temperatures. I have experienced this problem at least 6 times since 2009; after extended driving (with or without towing, usually in warmer temperatures) the clutch pedal cannot be pushed to the floor to disengage the clutch from the flywheel. The first incident, in 2009, occurred after I stopped my truck for fuel, and resulted in vehicle movement during engine cranking when I forced the clutch pedal down far enough to engage the clutch position switch to allow cranking. The issue became repeatable enough that I replaced the entire clutch system (master cylinder, hydraulic tubing, and slave cylinder) in 2013 with the oe parts, and had the same issue occur with the replacement system.

We had the same issue happen again. Accelerating to move into traffic and yet again the truck begins to buck and act all wacky... this makes it very difficult when trying to maneuver in and out of traffic and avoid getting rear ended or T-boned because of the delay in the truck trying to shift into the appropriate gears. This time we had to replace and rebuild the transmission, I don't like shelling out that kind of money when Dodge is fully aware of this problem and refuses to recall the vehicles which they are aware of with the solenoid issues either getting stuck open or closed and making the repairs, making it very costly to the consumer. We are very lucky we did not get rear ended or T-boned while traveling a distance and limp back to our house and concerned for our family while in this vehicle. Very angry consumer with Dodge for not wanting to be responsible for previous vehicles to be repaired, so they change the parts to enhance the transmission to a self greasing solenoid and inside parts to avoid this costly repair to themselves.

Wow another trip to the transmission place.... this is beginning to get ridiculous. We are at the transmission place again. The hesitation while in motion to get into traffic or while at a stop light we are literally shoving our foot through the floor board while the truck is trying to determine whether or not it wants to shift1-2. we lhad to limp home from a road trip and take it back to our transmission place we had just rebuilt it 8 months ago for the same reason we took it to him in the first place. We know for a fact what parts were used to rebuild the tranny, and we should have any problems, only for them to say oh when you have changed out your batteries or such the electrical could also mess with the governor or the solenoid. Well let's just say we have not changed batteries nor have we towed anything in the last 16 months. Dodge needs to help fix this problem. This is becoming very costly as well as an endangerment while driving or stopped in traffic and the truck begins to buck and wanting to shift the gears at the wrong time and us lose control while stopped or while driving it decades to shift finally. We cannot afford for our children to drive this vehicle if it is going to continue to become an issue with the tranny.

When pullin gout into the traffic the vehicle's RPM's was race off and the vehicle would buck and not want to shift into gear while in a moving motion. We had to literally push the gas pedal to the floor before it would jump into the next gear. The solenoid was replaced.

Driving down the road 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 hd, with the 5.7 hemi, the 4WD and 4lo light flashes and tries to enguage into 4X4. Even when the truck is in the driveway, and motor is off key out of ignition U can still hear the transfer case motor clicking in and out of 4WD. I am not the first to report this problem there is a whole form of people having this problem. Took it to a trans shop they think it may be the actuator but said they cannot guarantee thats it. $500 to do that job. Whats going on here? I googled it and see many people have the same problem but know fixes.

I rarely use my four-wheel-drive on my 2006 Dodge Ram cummings diesel mega cab not sure exactly when it starts to happen but it was somewhere under 30,000 miles I noticed a small rattling sound underneath my truck I tried to find and locate it myself. So I went on to some forms and checked with people to see if they knew what that rattling sound could be. They all said the same thing that the U joints were giving out some as little as 15,000 miles so I checked my you joints ensure and off my you joints were wearing out I'm both sides on the front wheel steer wheels on my 4 X 4 this seems to be a common problem with the cummins diesels and especially with the Dodge mega cabs seems to be a common problem with the 2006 Dodge Ram I would appreciate it if you would check the Dodge forms in see for yourself this is a big problem in Dodge refuses to do anything about it to cover their mistakes the main problem with the U joints is that you cannot grease them now mind you I work on a lot of heavy-duty vehicles mostly 18 wheelers in something like this seems like a no-brainer I feel Dodge should have to compensate or replace U joints with proper ones I hope you agree for when you check into it this is a very expensive fix for a common problem is happening in a lot of 2500 and 3500 Dodge 2005-2006+ vehicles ps thank you for your time and I hope you can solve this problem.

These trucks have been sold with faulty electrical systems that Dodge has not been able to correct with out costing the owners thousands of dollars. The tpim module constantly needs to be reflashed and replaced to keep your trucks electrical system working. They have designed this system so that the consumer cannot repair or even inspect the system which I believe is a violation of federal law. All of these vehicles have issues with the module and Dodge has made millions of dollars because of their faulty part. This module affects lights, wipers, A/C, cranking system etc... this needs to be looked at carefully and Dodge should be held liable to repair this problem.

The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 130,000. Updated 12/31/12 the consumer stated numerous parts were replaced but, the vehicle still shakes violently when hitting a bump in the road. Updated 1/4/2013
