About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
Started when using the turn signal (left) it makes the right turn on.... and now the right signal is failing to illuminate. The left signal flashes about 4 times and then the truck chimes and the blinker flasher is fast. The right rear brake light is now failed.

The turn signal switch constantly needs to be replaced because of a faulty contact plate that causes it to over heat. When this happens the turn signal works in the opposite direction you signal without warning. This is a huge safety concern and has caused traffic accidents from what I have found researching the problem. My truck tends to have the problem more frequently on cold mornings and after a rain.

Left front turn signal and left front high beam do not work. Found no power from tipm to light circuit. Estimated repair is $900 dollars. That is terrible high to repair a safety issue such as the lights working
- Holden, MO, USA
Front end of truck has problem steering it wants to go both ways it seems at once so when you hit a bump it tries to correct it to pull to the opposite ways. It's alarming. When your driving at any speed

Headlights go out inadvertently sometimes blinking sometimes go out completely. This occurs when the vehicle is in motion moving straight ahead on a smooth road.

(safety) when using left turn signal, right signal blinks or none at all. I have had other motorist think I was turning right and go around me as I slow down to make my turn left. I think NHTSA need to look into this ! because motorist can be issued a ticket for improper lane change or an accident could occur.

Driving on unfamiliar rural dirt road at night, switched to high beam to see upcoming intersection and all headlights went out. Stunned, I lost several critical seconds before I restored the low beams and locked up the brakes. Too late. Unable to turn safely, I left road, went down embankment through fence before stopping in pasture. Substantial front end and body damage to truck.

I noticed the turn signal indicator was flashing to fast. After inspection it was determined that the rear turn signals and the rear brake lights were not working at all. After a diagnostic ($55) it was determined to be the tipm (total integrated power module). This is basically the whole fuse box. This is a $1000 dollar repair, and is such a common problem that the part is on a three week back order from Dodge. Upon further research it seems to me that this has happened to hundreds (or more) 2006-9 Dodge Ram. Owners have experienced a myriad of issues with the vehicles lights (turn signals, brake, headlamps) as well as other random electrical issues. I believe this to be a serious safety issue and would appreciate your help in getting Dodge to address this issue.
