Ram 2500 ST 5.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 67,500 miles

Lifter/cam failure in cylinder 6. Severe performance loss. Requires a top end engine rebuild. 67500 miles but almost 3500 hours. Current owner changed oil every 5k miles with full synthetic recommended oil weight. 1/2 of recent miles were towing 9-10k trailer. First 7 years/28k miles was a fleet vehicle with obviously lots of idling.

This is the fourth camshaft I have heard of in the last 2 months...2 co workers have had the same issues and there are no used engines in Canada, so what does that tell us. This will be the last Dodge I will ever own. I brought the truck to the dealer and they said - wow that sucks...

Well, a long block is $11,500 with tax, how will you be paying for that, and I said I ain't paying...This is where we are sitting. I haven't decided what I am doing. With the truck
