The contact owns a 1999 Dodge Ram 3500. The contact stated that the spare tire cables underneath the vehicle were rusted. The failure prevented the contact from placing the tire back in the spare tire compartment, as it could fall while driving. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 240,000.
