The cracking has done nothing but get worse. The dash has begun having chucks of broken plastic fall off into the instrumentation and on the floor. It has disproportionately devalued the truck. The dash should be replaced by Dodge along with the Bezel on the instrument cluster which has 2 cracks in it. The cracks in the dash are also were inhibiting the defroster from clearing the windshield when fogged up on the inside. This was proving very dangerous until I removed the pieces that were blocking the air flow.

The dash on my 2000 Dodge Dually is literally falling apart, cracking and falling into itself. Small sharp-edged shards are breaking off and are discharged into the cabin. Everything else in the interior is near perfect. I am concerned about the dash fragmenting in the case of an accident and the shards becoming shrapnel throughout the cabin.
I have a 2007 Toyota Solara that is a great car. No complaints and no problems. I received a message that Toyota is offering to replace the dash and instrument panel if it becomes cracked, warped, or sticky. Why can't Dodge do this?

Dodge official Case #23386829---- Earl's Dodge in West Plains, Missouri has official complaint and photos at their dealership. Purchased 2000 Dodge Ram 3500 truck new from Earl's Dodge. When this truck was not being used, it was parked in an insulated and enclosed garage. It NEVER was parked out in the hot sun on a daily basis. The dash was cracked from one end to the other and in numerous places. I finally used gorilla tape to hold the broken defective plastic pieces together in the event of an auto accident where the flying sharp cracked pieces could be potentially fatal to myself and any passengers. How can Dodge deny the defective plastic used in their manufacturing during 1999 to 2005?? Look at all the complaints. My wife has a 1997 Toyota Camery which has a dash that looks as good as 2013 new car and it has been parked outside in the hot sun everyday for all these years.

I purchased this Dodge dually new in 2000. then, we started having cracks in the dash. I went to a dealer to complain and they wanted over $1,000 to fix it. I am appalled at this and have been trying to get this taken care of but, NO ONE would help solve this issue. This Dually only has 68,000 mile s and it and has been taken care of. I wanted a new dash and now the bezel is cracking. I understand that Dodge was aware of this issues but, I was never helped in this issue. All the dealers in our area no longer exist. The dealerships have closed.. I just want to have this issue resolve and someone to help me out. But, no one did and now it is getting worse. This dually cost me a lot of money and there were issues with the dash and still have not been resolved.

The complete Dash core and trim piece is busted in several places it looks horrible. No one offers an aftermarket dash for the vehicle and the dealership wants over 2,000 dollars just for the parts! The plastic that the dash is made of is obviously junk it just crumbles and falls apart when you touch it and it is a well known fact that absolutely all of the Dodge dashes is pick ups from 98 to 02 are ridiculously brittle and weak I love the truck but I dont think that an auto manufacturer should be permitted to not stand behind such a wide spread defect as this, it is a complete rip off scam to build and sell such junk giving the buyer no choice but to spend a sick amount of money to fix the problem if Dodge does not replace my Dash or give me a very good price on the parts to fix it I will never again buy a Dodge vehicle.

I bought four new 3500 in 2000 and one in 2001 love these trucks the cummins with the standard transmission is a pleasure to pull with. A couple years back the first dash started to fall apart soon after the rest started to follow suite. Today I have no dash in three of the five trucks with the other two not far behind. There is a real safety concern is with the sharp pieces of plastic exposed. I'm no longer proud to pull up somewhere and how nice looking trucks with a dash that looks like a engineering nightmare. I've considered putting out the cash for new dashes from dodge but are they going to fix the problem or will it come back in a couple of years. note with my discount at the local dealer there around 450 dollars but about eight hours to replace each one.
