Same as the person that has a broken blend door above but said his defaulted to the defrost mode, mine only blows out the dash vents therefore no heat to feet or windshield. Have to open elec rear slider and crack open drivers window and drive around 80 km/hr to get air in from slider to force dash vent heat to windshield.

Had a 2002 1500 that this happened to and moved some vacuum lines to get some defrost. Talked to dealer and they said the 2008 diesels have electric motors and they can plug into their computer to diagnose if it's a broken door or an electric motor but it's a 8-9 hr fix at $120/hr this is a severe safety hazard and should be a recall. Know another guy with a 2004 1500 that his broke this summer.

These car manufacturers think people are made of money and they screw us every time. Had a erratic heat gauge and asked service dept for some advice if it might be a thermostat and basically said book the truck in for service they don't give out free advice. I've been doing easy general repairs to my vehicles for close to 40 yrs and those young ass-h@&)s haven't even been thought of being conceived for another 20 yrs

Very frustrating issue with the broken blend door. No heat to my feet! I guess it's a good thing that it defaults to the defrost side when it breaks. At least I could see out the windshield. Not a lot of fun having hot air blowing in your face all of the time however. Temperatures hovered in the 10 - 20 degree range for more than 30 days this winter. Had to buy insulated boots and wool socks. Spoke with a couple of dealerships. Minimum of $1200 to repair. When it gets a little warmer and I can start riding my Harley, I'm going to tackle this myself. Biggest problem is you have to remove the "entire" dash to get access to the door. My biggest complaint is that Chrysler knows about this issue and is not willing to do anything to help you out (except take your money). To hell with the dealership. Every time I go there, they just try to sell me more and more services. What a rip off!
