Ram 3500 Laramie 6.7L Diesel

  • Automatic transmission
  • 28,000 miles

Engine light with the P0245 code has been on/off for the past 2.5 years. Took the truck back to the dealer in Kellogg ID 2 yrs ago and the light cleared just as the mechanic pulled the truck into the bay (but the code was stored in the history). He cleaned the system (did not replace the sensor) and the light remained off for approximately 2 yrs. The engine light w/P0472 code came on again. Took it to the dealer 3 hrs away and the code remained on this time. The mechanic replaced the sensor, up loaded the computer w/new change package and sent me on my way. Less than 300 miles later, the light (P0472) came on again. I called the dealer but have not received a reply 10 days later. I have a code reader, but I am unable to permanently clear the code even though the reader erases the code. I would think I either have a clog somewhere in the system, or the new sensor is bad. I love the truck, but I am leery of driving it being concerned of causing more damage. The truck is basically a $62,000 hanger queen. Poor engineering perhaps.

Ram 3500 ST 6.7L Cummins

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,000 miles

Since tk has had the light prob it has been in the shop numerous times for it. I haul campers across country in the summer so I put a lot of miles on the tk. Had the extended warranty to 100,000miles. while in Tx a red light came on in the dash, as soon as I could called my dealer. the light then later went off had no prob until just recently. Before warranty went out called Chrysler about the reoccurring problem of the lights coming on since the tk had about 40,000 m on it. They assured me they would continue to work with me. Well at 104,000 the yellow light came on & stayed on going to Fla. for the winter pulling a trailer. Since that usually didn't do anything except cut fuel mileage we continued. Later in the week going to groc store the red light (flashing) came on in addition. the tk went to an idle & we could not accelerate at all. Had to pull to side of road, after numerous times restarting the tk & keeping the RPM's up made it back to our RV Campground. Called Chrysler & then we go to the heave oh on the getting it to a dealer. Finally after numerous calls they made arrangements to look at it. My wife wouldn't even get in the tk as the red light would go out & no warning when it would come on which it did every time we drove it. (6 times in 7 miles getting it to the dealer), each time I would have to pull over. It took a week to figure out (we hope) that is was the accelerator sensor which costs us 546.?? to get it fixed. I cant imagine this happening going thru Atlanta in 6 lanes of traffic pulling a camper & no where to go. Who else has had this problem? A $60,000 tk less than a yr old shouldn't be doing this. we had a 97 with 850,000 never had a prob with it.

When Chrysler has documented problems from an on going problems from the manuf. warranty, they should cover the prob as long as it continues. It is not the engine, good engine something in the elec system. We have 02 sensors replace, wiring harness, sensor modular, God knows what else trying to fix this problem.
