Got this car 2 years ago for my daughter's 16 birthday. When she test drove it ,she told me that she felt safe in the car and that it called her name that is how much she really liked this car and thought that it would get her anywhere she needed to go. What a nightmare. Starting in July of 07 she was over 70 miles from home, she was on her way to Nebr. to see her dad when she called me. I could not understand her she was crying, worried that I would be upset with her just about every emotion that girl had she let show that day. When I finally got it out of her and understood what she was telling me I told her to wait there with the car I was on my way. We talked on the cell a lot because she was so alone out there and didn't no what to do. When I got there again she told me what happened. She had the cruise set at 57mph and the next thing she saw the rpms going up and the car revving. She said the car felt liked it was in low gear. I told her to call her dad which she already had. We headed back home Sarah driving my car and I driving hers. The car started right up sounded great ran like it was supposed to. Then about 20 miles into the trip I experienced the same thing she had. I pulled over we talked and waited for about 15minutes then started home again. Didn't get as far and the car did it again. Well Sarah was so upset that her first car had let her down. A sixteen year old and no wheels, not good. I took into the dealer they had it for 2 days, we went in and paid the bill I think about 475.00 the smile on her face made it all worth it. Well 2 days later the car did the same thing. I called the dealer and told them what happened again. It went back to the shop again I paid the bill and thought we was ready to go, Well we thought it was finally fixed. But the car was not and of course by this time my daughter wasn't the same girl she was when she first got her car and that big smile on her face was gone. I felt so bad for her, we never knew if she would make it to a school activity or not and of course I worried every time she left the house. When I called the dealership that had worked on it before I was not a nice person. I took the car to a different shop with all the paperwork and they told me they would let me know what was wrong after hooking it up to a machine. They called, I said fix it. What a ding bat I was. I just wanted my daughter safe and happy since she is the youngest. Well by this time mom's pockets were getting very low.I told her I was sorry if this did not work but I could no longer put money into this car if it wasn't fixed right. Sarah was either going to have to share my car or take her sisters 94 Grand Am. All this happening in 2007. Well it lasted 2 days. That was it we parked it until the beginning of August 2009. I bought the Chilton's Manual and thought I will try to pin point the problem. After reading and rereading I think I figured out what it might be. So last week I drove the car to a small town Auto Repair shop, I told the guy my thoughts, gave him all the paperwork, etc. and today he called and confirmed that I was headed in the right direction of this problem. He was going to check a couple other things and get back with me. Sarah in the mean time is has given up on her car and bought herself a Trailblazer she is heading off to college and decided that for her to get home in the Iowa winters she wanted a four wheel drive. She has been very happy ever since.
