OMG! This site has opened my eyes 8( I have a 2.4l 2006 Dodge Stratus. Last week I had a HUGE oil leak. I got home and smelled oil looked under and behind my car to find a huge puddle and a trail down the driveway!! My boyfriend is great with cars and hes worked on mine alot he said all the seals are leaking the cam front and rear and the crank front and rear??!!!??? WHAT well we buy all the parts im a lucky gal I dont have to pay cash for service BUT im wondering why did all these seals just go out all of a sudden?? Well I got on here and lets say were NOT putting all those parts back on it. I think DODGE/CRYSLER NEEDS to make a recall!! PEOPLE HAVE TO KNOW.
I would like to give MY STRATUS some Love. It was wrecked before I got it. Always had character. Ive enjoyed her ALOT and im sad to put her down in pieces. I didnt rag on my car I took REALLY good care of it but I drove it for sure!
Id like to add as well the order of which the oil leak accurred. 1st. Censor replacement 2nd. Window went out 3rd. Timing Belt at 100000 miles 4th. Alternator 5th. HUGE oil leak (strangely always gradually used some oil here and there and sometimes up to a qt.) I hope this helps others

Bought this car from a dealer and in less than 45 days developed major oil leak..Car had 60000 miles when I purchased..Front crank seal leak..Had it repaired at $700..It was about 3 weeks it happened again..Mechanic warrantied his work and repaired again..About 2 weeks it happened again..Come to find out that there is play in crank shaft and engine replacemant is required..Looked about complaints on internet and find many have same problem with this engine..
Called Dodge and was laughed at and told I should have bought a warranty when I purchased..I asked if they would honor their 100000 mile drive train warranty they advertise and was told no because I was not the original owner..I knew better than to buy a Dodge product but was in a hurry to get my son on the road to college and it seemed to be a good car for the money..
Now I have a car out in my yard that is not driveable and I'm still making payments..NEVER will I buy another Chrysler product!!!

Lucky me again. This car sucks! Right after the blower went out on the heater in the middle of the winter, I'm stuck at work in a different town because oil is gushing out of my vehicle. It is the middle of the night and no dealership is open. Thank goodness a diesel mechanic friend works in the same town and his boss was nice enough to allow him to check out my car and add enough oil to get me to the dealership and the nite drop box. The check engine light have never come on and I was 2 quarts low and still leaking (more like oil running out underneath the car). The dealership took a couple of days to diagnose the problem and then told me they'd have to keep the car to take the engine out. Finally found the problem and then had to wait for parts for repair. Thank goodness again for the extended warranty. Most of the major work was covered less deductable and misc.

was Driving to work, when i got to work, smelled burning oil, checked dip stick says i was 4 qts low. crawled under car hoping it was just a broken oil filter, took to mechanic next day after dropping 5 qts of oil in just to get me to the shop which was less then 20 miles away. mechanic told me the cam and crank seals failed, he replaced them started car back up and they failed again, I did some research on this website and had seen the Horror and the realization that the main bearing goes bad or the number 3 bearing, told mechanic to stop all work give me the bill and then i proceeded to trade car in on a brand new 2013 Nissan Sentra and got the extended warranty. this is the 2nd Dodge product i have owned and i swear to God i will never own one again. someone needs to sue Chrysler Corp. for their engines which are garbage Just like the 2.7 L i had in the 2001 Intrepid which failed on my sister after i sold it to her. someone needs to make Chrysler accountable for this, an engine should not fail at approx 90K miles especially since i was religious about giving the cars mobil 1 synthetic oil every 2500 miles. Never buy Chrysler Crap again,
