The trunk relies on an electronic release button which is picky. On several occasions the button simply did not trigger the lock to release and the hatch to open. A couple of times I was able to get it to trigger by pushing hard on the trunk door and rocking the car up and down but that stopped working after one or two times. Every time after that required popping the trunk via the emergency release. I never bothered to get it fixed. The issue seemed to pop up most frequently in extreme cold/snowy/slushy weather for what it's worth. Why they couldn't just use a manual trunk handle is beyond me. Would have been cheaper and easier to manufacture, plus less prone to random failure.
