A day trip of 544 round trip miles from Harlingen, TX to San Antonio, TX was a worrisome thing, because the Fiat used two quarts of oil! There are no leaks, no known engine problems. How can a car not smoking or clanking use so much oil? Purchased from a local dealership, Boggus Ford, in late Sept. 2021. The sales person could not believe it used that much oil.

I asked if there are recalls, and he said none are known to him. There is a class action lawsuit for this exact issue and it is reported to be an engine defect.

I never had a car, even one I bought used, use so much oil as 1 quart every 1600 miles. No low oil light ever comes on and I have no idea what damage is already done to the engine or catalytic converter. I would definitely suggest people stay away from Fiat and maybe Chrysler altogether as their explanation is definitely BS! I will never get a trade-in value for the vehicle. Last week I received from Fiat saying they have determined some vehicles may have an engine that consumes more oil usual. They have determined the components and will make the repair for free, IF "the rare event" that my vehicle has the manufacturing variances resulting in abnormal engine oil usage.

I already went through an "oil usage test" with the dealer 2019-2020 and dealer determined it met normal criteria. I plan to take the letter to the dealer and see what happens.
