My daughter purchased a new 2000 Ford Contour SVT. The dash was put together with inferior glue and the dash by the windshield is coming up. This in turn makes the defroster as useless and Fords Customer Service! I complained to Ford they said it is not their problem, contact the local dealership. They were as useless as a screen door in a submarine and said, "it's not our problem, we didn't build the car, ford did, he gave me an 800 number. So now I am on the Ford-merry-go-round. The general consensus from all that I have had contact with is, "what did you expect. it's an old car", my response is, shouldn't it last longer than 10 years? Both the local dealership and Ford agree that if they fix all of the problems they created they would go broke! On Oct 23 2006 and investigation was opened by MHTSA on this problem which they called, "INSTRUMENT PANEL COVER WARPAGE", the investigation stated that this problem MAY AFFECT PASSENGER AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT and FIELD OF VIEW, and it was closed on April 10 2007 and no recall was issued.
In my view, I believe that Ford really helped in this investigation.
So as it stands right now, I am one of the proud owners of a lemon from the FORD LEMON TREE! Ford's customer service can best be described as BOVINE MALE EXCRETION!!!!!!!
