Crown Victoria LX 4.6L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 97,000 miles

The check engine light came on, and the car started having intermittent losses of power. It seemed okay when pressing the gas lightly on flat roads, but had difficulty getting up any decent hill. It also stalled a few times, but started okay after these episodes. The price shown is somewhere in the ballpark, but it happened a while ago and it's just my best guess. This is a fairly common problem - the garage that worked on it is the one that takes care of police vehicles in town, and they said they've done dozens of them. This was the first of an expensive list of problems with my car, which includes rebuilding the tranny, all 4 power windows breaking and the heater controls needing to be replaced. All of that happened between 98,000 and 109,000 miles, and though the car itself only cost $2750 when i bought it, the repairs since would have added up to nearly that much (some have never been fixed). That makes this a bad choice for a "cheap used car" buyer.
