Ford installed these plastic intake manifolds because they are cheap! Too add to the problem, the top alternator support bracket attaches to the intake! Under heavy acceleration, torque from the serpentine belt puts a lot of stress on the intake mount area and will cause a crack! Ford should recall all the 4.6 engines installed in the Crown Vics and replaced these intake manifolds!
I repaired my cracked intake myself. I cleaned & roughed the cracked area up, stopped drilled the cracked at both ends, used JB Weld and installed Bars Stop leak "the leak has stopped"! Now, I'll just wait until another crack appears on this cheap plastic intake manifold.
I fail to understand why Ford Motor Company has not had a recall on these intake manifolds?

They had a recall on the damn thing, but refused to fix it. Thank you so much Longmont Ford in COLORADO. You have screwed up more things on this car than you have fixed. The plastic thermostat blew and had to replace the whole Manifold, myself, because they wouldn't honor the recall. Stop making crap cars, you Nazi Bastards.
