About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
The headrests on the 2011 Ford Crown Victoria are causing the officers to have neck problems. The headrest is so large and does not adjust forward and backward, it is pushing their heads forward and down, as you know they spend at least 8 hours in their vehicles each shift. Since we have purchased the 2011 crown vics we have had nothing but complaints. It is very uncomfortable and unsafe for the officers to be driving under these conditions.

I am a detective with the belleville police department, NJ. We are having an ongoing problem with the Ford Crown Victoria 2011 police intertceptor with manual seats. All our officers are reporting lower back pain due to a lower back bolster built in as part of the seat. This bolster is not adjustable. Upon bringing this problem to our local fleet dealer, we were advised that it was the design of the seat, and that even if we wanted to replace these seats with the six way power seat for the same year we were advised that Ford and our insurance carrier would not allow it due to safety reasons. We have reached out to other police departments if they are having the same problem with these seats, and I am currently building a database of other departments. Please contact our department to be included. Thank you.
