: the contact stated after parking the vehicle and entering a store, the contact was notified by the police that there was smoke coming from the vehicle. When the hood was opened there was evidence of a fire in the engine compartment. A police report was taken. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic shop, where the problem was identified as a faulty vehicle speed control switch, as described in the recall letter # 06V286000, vehicle speed control, which the contact had just received. The part was replaced, but the brake and running lights failed to illuminate and the cruise control did not function. The manufacturer was notified. Updated 10/25/2006 -
