This is the second plug to blow in this my work truck. the truck is well maintained and has oil changed at 3000 mile intervals. the truck is lost for a day for this repair ford does not recognize the problem and says that it comes from improper torquing of replacement plugs. well these are original equipment and the oil is changed at a ford dealership. not only does the repair involve a heilicoil installation but you also have to replace the plug and coil. maybe time to go back to gm.

First time this happened was on a trip from Michigan to Washington DC. Did not initially know what had happened until after pulled over and saw spark plug/coil pack blown out in Sandusky OH area. Was able to retrieve existing spark plug and coil pack, put back in and make it all the way to DC and back to Michigan. It ran ok, not great but eventually had the spark plug and coil pack replaced a few weeks later. I started carrying extra plugs and tools in case it would happen again. "Fortunately" the plug that blew was on the passenger side and "fairly" easy to put back in, ie, it still had a few threads in. Did not think this was a common issue until we researched it on the rest of the trip. This should be recalled. It is not only a major inconvenience but a dangerous situation when spark plugs eject, fuel spews out and an active spark is in the engine area!
