About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
The contact owns a 2004 Ford E350 econoline with 79800 miles. The contact notice that the warning light on his instrument panel came on stating that there was water in the fuel. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer who stated that the lining in the fuel tank had delaminated. The contact was told that his fuel system needed to be replaced.

Vehicle lost power 3 different times, once on interstate, twice in highway traffic, and in one case the engine died. Turns out cause was failure of tank lining clogging up the fuel system. Each of the 3 times I replace fuel filters before finally cleaning out the tank and determining actual problem. Ford knows there is a problem with the tank lining, as shown on Ford technical service bulletins 19728, but has done and will do nothing about the problem except tell me to replace my tank at almost $600 + labor.
