The contact owns a 2004 Ford E350 sd. The fuel tank deteriorated and the particles that comes off of the tank clogged the fuel injectors. The failure prevented fuel from getting into the engine which made the vehicle drive 15 mph to include a rough start. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they stated that it would cost of $4500 to seal the fuel tank. The repairs were not covered under warranty or recall. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 113,000.

The vehicle was then taken to the dealer who stated that the lining in the fuel tank had delaminated. The contact was told that his fuel system needed to be replaced.

Vehicle lost power 3 different times, once on interstate, twice in highway traffic, and in one case the engine died. Turns out cause was failure of tank lining clogging up the fuel system. Each of the 3 times I replace fuel filters before finally cleaning out the tank and determining actual problem. Ford knows there is a problem with the tank lining, as shown on Ford technical service bulletins 19728, but has done and will do nothing about the problem except tell me to replace my tank at almost $600 + labor.
