Hi everyone. I have an issue that no mechanic seems to be able to figure out. I have a 2007 Ford Edge with the dual climate control. Here is what is going on.
3 summers ago I started to get a water leak on the passenger side puddling on the mat. It has about 60,000 miles at the time. When I made a left turn the A/C motor would start swooshing. Evidently water started also leaking onto the driver floor board. After a while the blower would completely cut out when I turned left. After a month of this the blower completely stopped working. I can't feel any a/c or heat coming out.
I took it to a mechanic and he replaced with blower motor which ran me about $500. The following 2 summers the exact same issue has happened. Last summer, he went ahead and replaced the motor again. He said He would have to take off the dash to locate the underlying problem but it would run an additional $700. So I passed on that. Low and behold this summer, the EXACT same issue happened. I am at a loss.... anyone have this issue and an idea of the fix?

The blower is easily replaced. The problem, though, is stupid. The condenser reservoir sits right above the motor. The drain hose is easily clogged and there is no way to know the reservoir is filling up until water begins to splash on the motor. The only way to empty the reservoir is to pull back the fire blanket above the axle under the car and find the small drain hose. Blow condensed air up it, and watch out for the water.
