While driving at a speed of 65 mph on a busy Dallas highway. My wife's Ford Edge became unresponsive to her attempt to accelerate and all the lights on the dash came on and the odometer read 0 mph. She said all lights, including the airbag warning light, came on then the car started jerking and she couldn't accelerate to even avoid the traffic from the rear. She said the car was almost hit as she tried to exit the highway. If it had been rush hour she probably would have been in a high speed accident. She called me to her location and after shutting down the engine for 30 minutes and waiting on me to come. I jumped in the truck and restarted it to a violent jerk, almost like someone him me from behind. I then drove home with the hazard lights on without incident. I am going to take the car tomorrow to get serviced but after seeing all these reviews I am really upset with Ford. My wife said this incident occurred without warning and she won't drive the truck again. What caused this problem for others?

Let me start by saying I really love this car. I have owned the Ford for about 6 months. I love everything about this car, BTW it's the first Ford I've ever owned and I am scared to drive anywhere now....Ugh!
I had no problems up until 2 weeks ago when the A/C stopped working. I had to replace the lower A/C line at a cost of approx $400.00. After I get the car back-- It overheats and is drained of anti-freeze-- then it's fine!
A couple days later I am driving home from work and it just randomly stalls on me, the engine cuts out, I lose all power and lose control of the steering. It's dead for about 2-4 minutes, it wont start after 4-5 attempts, then suddenly turns over, I continue on and about 3 minutes later, completely dies again. This is so frustrating because I am in rush hour traffic on the highway. It dies 3 more times on my way home. I finally make it home, and let the car sit for a few hours and take it on a test drive...and it runs fine! wtf?
Then I stop to run into the store...come back out and it will not start?? I turn the key 5-10 times with no luck...then it just works and it runs fine again. It's like it's bi-polar, and very frustrating because I am not one who would want to be stranded on a busy highway.
My car started up fine this morning and I made it work with no problems. Let's just hope this is a random one time incident. If anyone has any ideas on what could cause this I would love to hear it!
Anyone else have this issue?? Not sure If I will keep this vehicle very long, and I definitely will never ever buy a Ford Again!!

My husband was driving to work and the edge died. He checked the fluid levels and saw it had no coolant. He got some and added to it and started to drive. It died again. This was over the course of 2 days. The second time it died, he had to miss his shift at work which resulted in an unpaid day off. He is provider for the family and having two young children this is very concerning for us. It is now in the shop and we have to try to share one car. Which means he drives since he works 30+ miles away and I walk since I work .5 miles from home. Now since the weather was in the negatives last week it was less than enjoyable. He was not comfortable with me walking but we had no choice. This is our family vehicle and it not working has put us in huge bind.
