The mirrors on the Edge are placed so that they continually block, significantly, vision on either side of the vehicle. They are placed very high and are large enough to interfere with left and right vision. This problem seems to be significant enough to have resulted in a lowering on the Ford 150 trucks with the same high mirror problem.

2007 Ford Edge with vista roof glass top. While driving at highway speed my front glass panel exploded and scattered glass shards down the back of the vehicle. Since dealing with the Ford dealer and company there is no indication that this is a common problem. However, after doing some research on the internet, I have found several instances of this reported (townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.F0fd566) since we had the inside panel closed no one was hurt. Besides the noise scaring the driver I imagine that if the panel is open this could be very dangerous. The car is still in for repair and am told replacement part(s) is on order from out of state. This problem seems to continue into at least the 2008 models.

The contact owns a 2007 Ford Edge. A light tan material covering the dash board reflects onto the windshield, which impairs his visibility. A technician from the dealer concluded that the failure was a normal characteristic of the vehicle. He purchased a darker piece of material from walmart that remedied the failure. The failure mileage was 1000. The current mileage was 28,000.

This vehicle has a couple of problems I am concerned about. First, when you roll down the windows, reach speeds of 30+ miles per hour, then try to roll the windows up, it creates a terrible vacuum pressure inside of the car. This pressure always makes my ears hurt, and I believe may be damaging my eardrums. I find it disturbing that as a consumer, I can not roll down the windows of my car in acclimate weather, because of the pressure that is created inside of the car when I do so. Also, I don't know if others have had the same problem, but this car is a shock hazard. I am constantly getting shocked every time I close the door of this car. It is a concern, and I always worry that when I go to a gas station it will create a spark (god-forbid). I have no contacted Ford Motor Company, but I have every intention on doing so. Right now, I have a laundry list of issues, but none as major, in my opinion, as these. I thank you very much for your time. It is my hope that if you get enough of these complaints, because I refuse to believe I am the only one, some changes will be made. Hopefully, no one will have to sustain any ear damage or spark a fire, before these issues are resolved.

Vehicle engineering defect. Dash board glare into windshield is distracting and at times obscures vision. Very unusual and excessive. Ford feels it meets all standards. I do not believe they have driven the car on a sunny day.

The contact owns a 2007 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the glare from the sun reflects off of the dashboard, which causes poor visibility while driving. He called Ford and they notated his case; however, they did not say whether they would repair the failure. Ford stated that the failure is not about how the vehicle is running and is not an electrical failure. The failure mileage was 4,000 and current mileage was 7,000. Updated 05/05/08

Purchased a new Ford Edge on 12/29/06. Contacted Ford motor at least 7 times. Called my servicing dealer, called local dealer. Visited 10 different auto Agency's to discuss problem. Ford has designed the windshield so that the entire dash board shows up as a double image in the windshield! this is not just a little portion, but the entire windshield. I have been in contact with glass manufactures, tinting companies etc., only to be told that I am wasting my time. In fact after numerous tries with Ford motor customer service they say and I quote that my problem has been appropriately addressed, and that the problem is a normal vehicle characteristic ! I purchased this Ford Edge in good faith, and can not believe that this problem is safe, in fact I contacted consumer report, and they suggested I contact your office. It does not matter if the sun is shining or if the sun is not shining, you can not see out of the windshield safely, you must where polorized sun glasses at all times, including at dusk. This is wrong. I have done and said everything I can to make Ford aware of this problem, and I got nowhere. The next step is to visit a opthamologist to see what damage is being done to the eye. In 6 months this Ford Edge has been driven only 1500 miles, by my wife, and I drove it another 1000 miles just to see if it was just me. After a long trip, I guarantee you will be taking a nap to rest your eyes. This is going to cause an accident. I also found upon inspection of other make cross overs, that Ford is right, this is a design flaw in the new cross overs. I drive a cadiliac escalade ext, and I do not have to where sun glasses to drive this pickup. I hope this is not going to be swept under the carpet, as I really think this can be serious! I will wait to hear from you. I have also contacted Mr. Keith mc calls office and we will wait your reply. Sincerely, J.a.H.
