The contact owns a 2008 Ford Edge. The contact stated that when applying the brakes, the vehicle would abnormally accelerate. The contact stated that the failure was caused by a defect in the firewall design. The dealer was contacted who advised that they were not knowledgeable as to how to repair the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 8,000. Updated 03/15/11 the consumer stated at times when applying the brake pedal, at times his foot would also hit the accelerator pedal. Updated 03/21/11
