Takata recall. The contact owns a 2008 Ford Edge. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 17V024000 (air bags) and stated that the part was not available within a reasonable time frame to schedule the recall repair. The contact called five dealers: Jorgensen Ford sales, Inc. (8333 Michigan ave, detroit, mi 48210, (313) 584-2250), wolverine Ford truck sales (3550 Wyoming ave, dearborn, mi 48120, (313) 849-0800), fairlane Ford (14585 Michigan ave, dearborn, mi 48126, (855) 285-3673), pat milliken Ford (9600 telegraph rd, redford charter twp, mi 48239, (313) 731-6436), and Suburban Ford of ferndale (21600 woodward ave., ferndale, mi 48220, 866-808-5170). The dealers confirmed parts were unavailable and were unable to verify when they would be supplied from the manufacturer. The dealers indicated that they reached their 15 vehicle maximum with the vehicle rental company and had been unable to provide the loaner vehicle per the notice. The manufacturer was contacted to determine if they could verify when the part would be supplied to the dealer. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

I was on the 60 fwy West, stopped for traffic. I got hit from behind at about 65-70 mph and pushed into another vehicle. My Ford Edge was totaled. Airbags smoked but did not deploy, looks like they malfunctioned. The area around the airbag was raised but no air bag came out.

2008 Ford Edge. Speed, about 25-30 mph in heavy traffic. 2008 Ford Edge was struck from behind by a truck and pushed into the car in front. 1) no air bags deployed; 2) the back of the driver's seat (electriclly controlled seat) let go on impact, leaving the driver lying on an essentially flat seat. The car was totaled by the insurance company. ** why did the seat let go; ** why didn't the front air bag deploy. Injuries were minor: Concussion. *** this is the correct VIN # - your form will not accept the VIN.
