It's been MONTHS since I've noticed a noise coming from the rear wheels of my 2008 Ford Edge... Originally thinking I needed new tires (and it turned out that I did) I got 2 brand new tires for the front and rotated the 'above average' tires that were on the front to the rear wheels. This did not fix the loud hummmm that I was getting. Over several months the noise has been getting worse, and I'm certain that it's my rear wheel bearings going out. After researching online about similar complaints I now know that apparently Ford knows of an issue with the rear wheel bearing hub assembly and trailing arms, but they're not issuing any kind of recall that I could find. :-(
My gripe is not only that I'm going to have to replace both rear wheel bearings now, but that I'm destined to have to do this every 40-50K miles from what I can tell from others who are having the same problems. To make matters even more frustrating... I work a full time job (50+ hours a week) and now I'm going to have to find time to do tear my Edge apart to fix it. Doing the work itself does not trouble me, as I grew up a mechanic, but it's more of a principal and annoyance factor tugging at me. At least I'll save the cost of labor that a dealership would charge me. I guess my next question will be when I can find the time, and whether or not I will trade in my 2008 Ford Edge for a newer model year to avoid having to deal with this every few years. Ugh. What a headache!

I'm seeing this problem with 2007 on your complaint board - but my vehicle is a 2008. The lease is up with this vehicle very soon, but I want to alert other 2008 Edge owners that this is an issue that Ford needs to work on...

They should be a recall due to the number of vehicles with this problem
