I was driving up hill at 40mph, I first noticed my rpms dropping, then my speed. Came home and called dealership, as my vehicle is under warranty, car was towed to fairfield Ford. They called later to tell me it was the throttle body assembly and he took it apart and cleaned it. He said at this time, it was fine. Of course, this was the one thing not covered by the extended warranty. Within 2 weeks, the same thing happened again. It was intermittent. So I had my mechanic replace the part.

Found a transmission leak on the floor of garage. Took to local transmission mechanic where he determined that the power transfer unit required to be replaced. After a review of the internet, found this to be a problematic issue with the Ford Edge. Communicated with Ford, however no assistance on my $1,569.91 cost was provided...updated 03/31/15

Vehicle developed a clanking / clunking sound. Felt like it was dragging something very heavy, automatic transmission shift points seemed to be delayed and shifting to a higher gear happened at a very high RPM. Stopped vehicle and turned it off. Noises went away after restarting, but acceleration was very sluggish and it didn't shift to a higher gear until a very high RPM, the gas pedal had to be pushed to the floor. Took it to a repair shop and it was test driven and put on the lift. Checked for any malfunction codes. The mechanic could find nothing wrong. This has happened twice.

#1) this vehicle was purchased brand new in 2010 and from the beginning when I press on the accelerator pedal the car will sometimes just goes into a dead mode and does nothing for a few seconds. If I try to accelerate and the car doesn't react I sometimes have to mash on the pedal to get the car to go. This has proven to be a very serious problem when I have to merge or turn quickly out of a side street of through an intersection in a quick manner. Its as if the car has a hiccup or some type of delay from pedal to motor? #2) on another note that has to do with dashboard design, when I turn on my turn signals the high beam will sometimes engage because the high beam switch and the turn signal switch are on the same arm and the high beam is designed to be pushed forward instead of the traditional pulled toward you to activate.this pushing motion is consistent with my hand reaching toward the turn signal in a forward motion. This occurrence is sometimes mistaken for aggressive behavior or an annoyance to oncoming traffic.

I was attempting to park on a steep incline in san francisco on a rainy day, because I was aware that my vehicle tends to roll backwards upon releasing the brake (even when in drive), I decided to not park in that spot and was very careful to shift into drive and gun the gas so the car would move forward and not roll back into anything behind me. I had successfully used this technique before, but this time gunning the gas still resulted in my rolling backwards and caused a collision. After the collision, reapplying the gas made the car move forward, but now the damage was done. I do not know if this is a gear selector problem, an issue with the car in the great deal it rolls back on hills, or a combination of both, but this is definitely a safety issue and was not brought to our attention when purchasing the vehicle or in any of the safety information we read to date especially considering the hilly environment in the bay area. If the vehicle had a manual 4WD selector like my old Ford Ranger did, switching this on would resolve this issue on hills, and allowing it to be shut off during normal drives would still reserve the fuel economy that Ford was going for with this model.

Car jerks and anti lock/traction control system tries to engage during turns to left pulled codes from car they were P1650 power steering, dealer said this was tied to anti roll and also control transmission and brake system and would cost me $930 to repair, next code was P1703 brake switch, then code P1780 transmission control. Its obvious Ford Motor Company knows theirs a problem with this type of auto..research on internet show this same problem since 2007 or so to present!

Today, my wife brought her 2010 Ford Edge in for the 3rd time in a matter of 3 weeks, to the local dealership. The problem is while she is driving, the check engine light will come on and the engine will stall leaving her stranded in the middle of traffic, after a minute she can restart it but it happens shortly after that. They had replaced a sensor on the last visit but yet again today the light came back on and it stalled several times before she could get it home. This places my wife and others in traffic with her in danger as when the car stalls there is no way to warn other drivers and could cause an accident. I do not believe the dealership has any clue as to what is going on with this vehicle. I have done some research online using google and have found there are many others out there who seem to have had the same problem and no one seems to have a definite reason as to why.

Power failure while merging onto highway 5 in san diego ca. Engine RPM reduced to idle. After coasting to the side of the road, engine was idling. The engine was turned off and after about 1 minute it was restarted. I next shifted it back into drive and it was working again. Same failure occured on 7/29/2013 with the same results. Corrective action required throttle body asembly on back order.

My Ford Edge 2010 has issues with the transmission. The car now has 76,000 miles but about every 20,000 miles I have a violent transmission shift. It is either the transmission or the all wheel drive controls. The car will be going along and all of a sudden there is a loud noise and jerking back and forth for about 3 seconds. It sounds like the tranny is falling out or has rocks in it. I took it to Ford many times and they acknowledge there is a problem but all they do is update the software ( and charge me). They keep saying there is a fix for the issue in the software but it doesn't fix the issue. They gave me an extended warranty but it doesn't matter because they don't care to find the problem. I asked why they don't pull the tranny pan in look for loose metal or issues and they said they have to charge me. The dealer told me they have to pay there own guys to look for the problem and they don't get reimbursed by Ford for this so they aren't going to do anything except put a recorder on my car for 30 days again. I told them it is intermittent. They offered to sell me a new car or find another Edge with 76,000 and put me in that. I told them I didn't want to spend money on another car because I just spent 34,000 on this one and giving me another Edge the same age I have no clue what problems I could have with that. In other words Ford isn't worried about my issue until someone gets hurt. The warranty doesn't mean a thing to them. If it causes an accident I will sue them for everything for selling me a defective car and not standing behind it.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the vehicle gear shifter failed and it would not shift out of park. The gear shifter had to be placed in neutral while the vehicle was parked, to be able to shift the gear back to drive. The failure was experienced numerous times. The dealer inspected the vehicle. The brake pedal switch was replaced; however the failure was not corrected. The gear shifter does not release from park. The failure mileage was 3,000 and the current mileage 27,000. Updated 2/19/13 also, the brake master cylinder was replaced.

Originally the transmission would intermittently jerk when it would down shift at low speeds, primarily going up a hill. Since that time, the transmission now intermittently slips when pulling out from a stop sign into traffic. This condition is unsafe as oncoming traffic approaches and the vehicle just barely moving. This 2010 Edge has been back to family Ford on four occasions for this condition with no resolution. During the last visit [xxx] the service manager stated Ford Motor Company would do nothing about the intermittent problem unless he could verify the complaint. He put between 1200 and 1500 highway miles on the vehicle at interstate speeds, even after telling him it was intermittent at lower speeds. On an intermittent basis, the transmission in this Edge still exhibits jerking when down shifting and still slips when pulling out from a stop sign. I've had the transmission violently engage while riding along at a normal steady pace. One time was on the highway going about 60mph. The peddle was solid but the car decelerated like I took my foot off the gas. About 5 seconds later the tranny slammed into gear and resumed speed. It slammed so hard it felt like we got rear ended. I immediately called the dealership and they said "if it wasn't doing something when I brought it in, they wouldn't be able to find the problem". it also happened on a backroad at 30 mph and also pulling out of a parking spot.
