The vehicle was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the brake booster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and the contact was informed that the warranty had expired. The failure mileage was approximately 111,000.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35-40 MPH, the vehicle lost motive and stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact who is a certified mechanic, inspected the vehicle and became aware that the clutch had been damaged from extreme heat. The contact determined that the PTU (Power Transfer Unit) unit was too close to the catalytic converter and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The dealership was contacted; however, the vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

Vehicle stahls about 50% time in reverse when parking mainly, and in forward when parking. Very scary and I have only had this vehicle for 1.5 months. Repairs have been made according to CEL codes; however, the stalling does not report the code, so it occurs over and over. Very scared this will happen and cause an accident. Based on numerous forums who had the same car and instance - it is the throttle body.

65 mph on highway, complete loss of power... electronics seemed to sputter off, then back on for a few seconds, then off again, but the vehicle shut completely off mid highway driving with no ability to steer, accelerate or decelerate. Ended up at a complete stop on the highway with nothing working to power the vehicle back on. Heater seemed to continue to work, but nothing as far as the engine or dash, no electronics. Continued to try to start the vehicle over and over as oncoming vehicles swerved around me at 60 to 70 mph. Dialed 911 and had to wait 15 minutes before a police car parked behind the Ford Edge with flashers on. Literally no warning, no warning lights, no nothing. Vehicle simply lost power... completely turned off. This was hands down one of the most frightening experiences for my daughter who was driving at the time. She'll likely not get back into that vehicle.

I was driving my vehicle on my way home from work on a country road. The vehicle randomly began to lose power and wouldn't gain much speed. I was trying to get it parked in at least a driveway or place to sit safely in case something happened. There were cars behind me, the car started smoking really bad from the hood. Before I had time to get somewhere safely, the car shut off and started going in reverse. I had to slam on my emergency break and was stuck there until I had help from a tow truck to tow it. The car wouldn't turn on or move so I was stuck on this hill and had people from their house guide traffic until hell came. The car didn't give me any warnings or issues prior to this at all. I haven't had the vehicle for more than 2 years and have always taken care of everything and have kept up on the maintenance of it. The engine is blown and was told the antifreeze leaked into the oil due to the engine blowing. I have still been making my monthly payment on this vehicle. I have been carless for months now and would really appreciate Ford taking the action into doing what's right for their customers that keep them going in business. I have researched this vehicle and am seeing a lot of problems with the same exact issue.

The car accelerated while I was braking while parking on the street, this problem is reoccurring. I also constantly get a warning that my car is overheating while the bar line is on cold. I tried putting anti freeze and it doesn't help. The car also turned off at a green light when I turned on my air conditioner. Lastly I got a warning that my oil pressure is low although I just got an oil and filter change the day before. Please do a recall for these things. I have a child and it is very unwise to put him in any danger by being in this car.

I was driving my Ford Edge on route 303 in phoenix at about 60 miles per hour when the car suddenly started shaking and losing power. It allowed me to drive a very short distance until I was able to stop the car, in a turn lane with a tractor trailer on my tail...very disconcerting! a yellow wrench light was showing along with some notice about my traction being off, I believe. After sitting a few minutes I was able to move it off the turn lane and into a fairly safe lane ahead. Fortunately a policeman pulled up behind me and I shut off the engine and called aaa for a tow. 20 minutes later, I turned on the engine which now seemed fine so the policeman suggested that I pull forward into a safer area. After doing sotheby's car seemed fine again so I drove it to my daughter's house several miles away and cancelled the tow. I have been researching this issue on line since and this has happened to many Edge owners who have feared for their lives when the same thing happened to them. Some say cleaning or replacing the throttle plate seemed to work but others have found that the dealers insist nothing is wrong after testing it.... it seems to have happened too many times for nothing to be done.... I think a recall is in order so that the dealerships can find out what the problem is before someone loses their life, if that hasn't already accur. I have a 2011 Ford Edge.

Vehicle has 54,096 miles on it. Power transfer unit failure and transmission failure. Noticed a noise, took it in for repair before it got worse. This seems to be a known and common issue. Very expensive repair with low miles.

The vehicle was stationary and attempting to accelerate away from a stop light. The vehicle would not move under its own power. The engine RPM would increase as well as the speedometer but no movement. The vehicle would also move with the vehicle in park. Towed to shop where it was determined that the axle retainer clip had fallen off and the cv axle and it slid out of the the inner shaft and stripped the entry teeth and the end of the cv shaft. Known problem on 2012-14 Ford Edge.

When the vehicle was placed in reverse, the instrument panel and back up camera went blank. The contact mentioned that the gear became stuck in reverse and the vehicle rolled into the vehicle in the rear. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was not filed. There were no injuries. The contact turned the vehicle on and off until it became operable. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed that the clutch was not recognizing what gear was selected. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to midwest Kia (8725 w kellogg dr, wichita, ks 67209, (316) 448-8493), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 128,000.

Engine suddenly lost power and accelerator did not function. Needed a new throttle body motor assembly. Ford established "customer satisfaction program" in lieu of a recall for othjer Ford models but the Edge was not included in such.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall. The approximate failure mileage was 160,000. The VIN was not available.
