Problem started the very 1st night I brought it home from dealership. It's been in & out of the service department close to 6-7 different times and each time I get it back the same thing happens. Doesn't matter if it's cold or well warmed up, I stopped for whatever & I'm in "select shift " mode, ( new this year to the Edge) & when I get going again it won't shift out of 1st gear. It doesn't happen all the time, it just happens when it happens. It's only happened a couple of times in the drive mode but it still occurs. Occasionally it will stick in 3rd, 4th , or 5th gear from a dead stop. The dealership says each time I get it back that it is fixed but it's not. This last Thursday (02-10-2011) they called and said they got some brand new program from FORD's PCM manufacturer, they wiped the computer memory clean & installed this new one & said it ran like a totally different vehicle, GUARANTEE to be happy with it. Well guess what, Friday' s drive to work it did both scenarios describe above.1st in AM stuck in 3rd or 4th before I got to main road. In PM, at a stoplight it stuck in 1st gear. They have had VDR in vehicle when I drive it & when they drive it & it shows to them what it does ,yet they still can't get it repair.

I bought a used 2011 Edge Limited a couple of weeks ago. I really enjoy the vehicle, except just a few days ago, I've noticed some transmission issues which has me worried. I bought this vehicle with 36K miles and need it to last well into the 100's... I'm concerned about it being able to do this based on what I have experienced lately.
Last night I was at a light and when I gently pressed on the accelerator, it would not shift out of first gear. I tried to manually shift it but that didn't work either. I pulled over, put it in park and tried again but the same thing happened. I wasn't sure what I was going to do because driving home in first gear was not in the cards. Fortunately, after about a half mile or so it began shifting okay again. I plan to take it to the dealership this week but am not holding my breath because intermittent issues like these often don't get fixed. This will obviously be a huge problem if it continues with any regularity.
