While driving down the Interstate my car suddenly refused to accelerate & forced me to veer off the road. I had to shut the car off & then restart it. The dummy light system showed a wrench light on after this happened. There's no set pattern to when this happens, but when it does happen the car is in drive. I can be traveling 30, 45 or 70 mph and it just shuts down. The engine is still going but I have no ability to accelerate whatsoever. I have also been at a light and when it turned green and I proceeded to go, it shut down leaving me stranded in the middle of the intersection with cars blowing their horns at me as they sped by in all directions. I've notified Ford about the problem only for them to deny repairing the problem! Someone is going to get killed because of this issue and I pray it isn't me! This creates a very hazardous situation and happens without any warning!

Dealer says its a factory issue, cranksshaft, camshaft, cylinder all with damage.
While driving on a 1000kms trip, "Low Engine Pressure Oil" Warning came up every time I slowed down, suddenly I heard an awful grinding sound and the vehicle suddenly stop forever.
Done all my preventive maintenance on time, and this is one of all the trouble I´ve had with this vehicle.

Driving home, 11pm, by myself. No shaking, no weird noises, no indication of what happened except I was coasting to a stop with no power steering nor power brakes. ??? WTF???
Restarted the car, OK. Drove home.
This occurred 3x within 10 minutes of driving 30mph, and my husband experienced it twice. unnerving when in traffic and you just slow down but worse at a major intersection with traffic aimed AT YOU.
Hooked up our scan tool to find P2111 - throttle actuator. A Wrench icon appears on the dashboard. Dealer wanted $119 to diagnose problem, even after we told him the code. SURPRISE, SURPRISE...no code when the dealer tried to find problem. Paid fee still?!!! AND we were under an extended warranty from Enterprise Sales. They would NOT replace the part unless the dealer could confirm the problem and code.
Each time it happened, we drove to dealership and they were unable to pull the error code. OUR scan tool showed P2111 three times.
Friend suggested adding a fuel additive and run a few 89 octane tanks of gas. Seemed to fix it.

I purchased the 2012 Ford Edge a month ago from a private party. When I stop at an intersection, the vehicle completely turns off, shuts down. This is very scary and frustrating. Has anyone else had this problem? Thank you for your attention and concern.

I bought my Edge used but with a certified warranty. I have followed all the instruction on servicing my car. Two days ago, on my birthday and after paying my second to last car payment, my engine light came on. I immediately stopped at Advanced Auto and they read a code for a bad camshaft sensor. From there I headed to the Ford dealership but did not make it. My car died and I had it towed.
Yesterday I got a call from the dealership saying I would need a new engine with the pretty price tag of $8500 including labor. Basically what my car is worth. :( Did some research online and it turns out several people have had this same issue and this motor is in the majority of their cars, They said my water pump broke and leaked in to the oil and sucked its way in to the motor. Funny how I have a sensor for all other things (3 I've had to replace for $2000 total) but no sensor to say your water pump is about to explode your engine!

While driving car lost power and wrench light came on. Had throttle body cleaned. Ran good for awhile (couple of days) then started again. Sometimes wrench and sometimes engine light. Had code ran and it said it was a sensor. Have not had fixed yet. The limp mode is so dangerous. I had grand baby in car when it did this third time and could have been killed. This is not an acceptable average car problem. This is a manufacturer problem. Need a root cause analysis, reverse engineering, or redesign done by Ford. Why should I continue to pay for a problem that Ford overlooked during the design phase of the suv?

Happen again today. Just turned car off and let set for few minutes and restarted and drove home.

Driving with my 3 year old daughter we just barely drive across an intersections and suddenly the vehicle went into limp mode and a warning light AWD OFF. I manage to get the vehicle to a location that was somewhat safe and called a tow truck. It was diagnosed as a throttle body issue. I paid $250 to have it "cleaned". Ford should address this problem that has been brought to their attention by thousands of Ford owners, but has been ignored and is putting my family in danger.

My throttle body first stopped working in April, it was replaced. The car broke down about 4 days later, they said it was a plug that fell out.
On the 24th of July, it broke down again, each time in the middle of the road with no warning. I have lost many days work and personal time over this. I've called a Lemon Law attorney.
Has this happened to anyone else?

The diagnosis still is unclear and I purchased my vehicle in April 2019. 3 weeks later in May 2019, with no warning, it died and left me stranded. The vehicle was trailered and brought to my hometown, left in front of my house for 1 day before I had it towed to the local mechanic shop. It sat a total of 55 days before I got it back, and the diagnosis - needs a new engine. Cause - a piston blew through the block. The cause was unknown.
Error code throwing a misfire #4. That was not occurring. 55 days, $3000 later vehicle returned and to this day dies and flashes "low engine oil". There is a technical bulletin posting on this website that explains the root cause, in my opinion, as although the car was under warranty (I chose to pay for at the dealers), the issues continue in so many other areas...

I'm very disappointed in Ford and their lack of correspondence or compassion to those of use who trusted in them to keep us safe and confident in our vehicle choices.
Death trap and a money-grubbing vehicle. Too bad since it has such quality features.
Stay away from 2012 Ford Edge sel 2.0b4 cyl turbocharged. Poorly built with no consideration to the people.
