When the car is in motion, then comes to a stop say, at an intersection, an alarm sounds again and requests that you shift to park. I hit the ok button on the steering wheel, but the process repeats. I have sometimes been able to stop the alarms by wiggling the wiring harness at the door hinge, but this may be coincidental. This happens when the car is moving, and when still. The auto lock will also not engage during the alarm, and even when manually activating it won't engage. I never know if this is a true alarm or not. I assume always it is false. This is a dangerous assumption. Repeated door slamming or normal closing does not stop the alarm. This happens every day and has been for several months. I see the issue on car complaint sites, there should be a recall before someone falls from a moving vehicle thinking the alarm was false when it was not.

We recently heard that the Edge was being investigated because of problems with the door latch. We want to report that we have had that problem. We bought a 2013 Edge in Dec 2015. During the first week we started getting the warning message that the driver's door was open when it was actually not. It did not happen every time we drove the car, but when it did happen, the message kept repeating & there was no way to stop it. On July 26, 2016, we took it to the dealer & found out the problem was the door latch. It cost $486.57 for replacement (see invoice). When I heard about the investigation, I talked to the manager at the dealership & he said that it was 'possible' that we would be reimbursed by Ford if a recall were issued. Another Ford worker in the service department said he does not think there will be a recall because there have not been that many incidents. An ongoing investigation indicates that there must have been plenty of incidents. If this is a design flaw, Ford should be held responsible. We are living on social security and $486.57 is a substantial part of our income. We should not have to pay for Ford's mistake. We urge you to issue a recall so that we can attempt to obtain reimbursement.
