In July 2022, brakes gave out twice, pedal going all the way to the floor; hard to stop. Then it mysteriously went away. Happened again in November 2022. Found out Ford issued an extended warranty (13N02) on a faulty brake booster. Took it to Galpin Ford. They replaced the booster under this warranty. Yesterday, 12/12/22, we had a bit of snow, wife drove the car, almost crashed as brake failure yet again! Took it back to Galping Ford who says 'they cannot find anything wrong'. That's BS! This Edge has less than 70,000 miles and is driven by a middle age female (not being aggressively driven). We bought this vehicle used from Galpin Ford and they DID NOT inform us of this problem. Now we have a dangerous car to drive; I can't sell it or I'm liable! There is NO recourse for us owners and we are paying the price (both financially and with our lives) because NHSTA has failed to issue a recall. Get these cars fixed or off the road! Owners should not have to bear this financial burden.

When braking the brakes go all the way down to the floor and I do not stop immediately. I was driving home from work Fri 12/9 after dark and had to swerve to keep from hitting an animal in the road because my brakes did not brake as I expected. If was very unnerving.

9/15/2022 paid $875.90 for brake booster, two weeks later, ABS module going out, according to Moyer Ford, as of 12/01/2022, I-??ve called Ford Complaint and they fail to add my vin number, says only nhtsa can do that. As of today, 12/01/2022, Moyer ford is telling me abs modules are on back order with no ETA. Ford knows this is major brake issue but not addressing it! Now when abs part does come in, that-??s another $800 out of my pocket, total of $1700 that Ford is ignoring and don-??t even have the parts to fix! Major concern!

While driving my 2013 Ford Edge Sport down the highway at 60mph the traffic light changed to yellow and then red as normal. When I went to apply the brakes the brake pedal suddenly lost pressure and went to the floor before the vehicle was able to stop. By this time I was in the middle of the intersection. By some miracle I was able to avoid a potentially serious accident as luckily no cars were in the intersection. The brakes were fine one moment and then no brakes the next with no warning lights or error codes. The brakes haven-??t changed since then. Still no pressure and I-??m afraid the drive the vehicle. My vehicle has yet to be inspected/diagnosed, but after doing extensive research online I-??ve found that this is a very common problem with the ABS system. Apparently the valves get stuck open allowing fluid to flow freely past them and the system needs replaced. How is this not a safety issue. I-??ve read that so many people have almost been in serious accidents were death could potentially occur. I don-??t understand why this has not been recalled. The brake fluid is at normal level and the brake booster was previously replaced by Ford a couple years ago. In that instance the brake pedal was very hard and the vehicle would not respond to braking. That issue was fixed by Ford on their dime and I was told it was some secret or unpublished recall on certain vehicles, depending on where they were manufactured. This is gross negligence on Fords part and can-??t wait for someone to sue the pants off them.

including hard or stiff power brakes that are difficult to press down and increased stopping distance. This may be due to a failing vacuum pump or hydraulic pressure pump. You may also find that your brake pedal is positioned higher than usual. As a result, you may have to lift your foot higher to press on the brake pedal, apply more force,

Initially we contacted Ford when the brake pedal went to the floor while my wife was driving WITH the KIDS in the car. Ended up having the car towed to Ford. They inspected the vehicle and later called and said brake booster was bad. With no signs or warnings of failure I find this a safety issue. Ford replaced parts and Now we are back to having the pedal on the floor with very little pedal at all. My family's lives are at risk and Ford should be responsible. To think my wife has to drive this vehicle with my kids in it and be in a terrible accident one day is horrific.

HCU unit master cylinder and brake booster failure all at one time (ford knows of this issue that-??s why there-??s a recall on the brake boosters ) I was driving with my family in the car going about 70 mph down the highway and the brakes gave out causing them to go to the floor and barley able to stop super spongy and barley made it home without using the e brake the next day we limped it to our local dealer ship and they said the HCU unit brake master cylinder and brake booster had to be repair due to no fault of our own now this repair wasn-??t cheap at all at a cost of 2000 dollars. Always have had the dealership service the vehicle when it was due or recommended. We-??ve never had an issue with the brakes on this vehicle before no warnings no nothing just cruising down the road had to hit the brakes due to traffic and nothing, very scary and the HCU units master cylinders and brake boosters in these cars need to be recalled due to safely issues not just for the drivers and passengers but for everyone around on the road. Think god I was able to stop if not we would have ended up in the back of a 18 wheeler in a fiery crash and wouldn-??t be able to type this complaint. The units were inspected and was told they need to be replaced but dealership service advisor said they see them all the time for no apparent reason just driving and a failure occurs.

We were driving in the mountains and the brake pedal went all the way to the floor before engaging. This caused us to almost hit a vehicle in front of us, swerved successfully, but then my wife and I have whiplash pain from the instant, hard stop. Took it to a Brakes Plus and they said air in the lines was the cause and flushed the lines. Worked for a few days, then almost got into another accident with the same issue of the brake pedal falling to the floor before engaging. Took it back to Brakes Plus and they notified us that Ford is well aware of this issue and extended the warranty of the Brake Booster, which is known to fail. Took it to Ford, they happily replaced the brake booster, under the warranty, but then said this is not the issue, we need to replace the HCU Assembly and replace the master cylinder. Which, conveniently, is not under warranty. Ford is playing with peoples lives, knowing having faulty parts installed on vehicles and not taking ownership and replacing the parts needed to safely operate their vehicles. When I asked if I can complain, they gave me your web-address instead of trying to make things right. The only response I received worth a penny, is keep your receipts, maybe we can reimburse you, if I/m not dead, when we decide to take ownership.

The brakes on my otherwise perfect 2013 Ford Edge recently went to the floorboard while I was driving. The first time, I could have killed a pedestrian--which should shock everybody including Ford. The second time, I could've killed several people in the car in front of me and started a deadly chain reaction. Ford dealers have told me that there is a recall on the 2011 & 2012 Ford Edges for a replacement of the ABS module--BUT NOT FOR MY YEAR! People are going to die if the greedy Ford is not FORCED TO RECALL THIS YEAR TOO. I've been told by numerous independent mechanics and have spent hundreds of dollars which leaves the brakes still not working properly. Ford dealers have quoted me $2000 + to replace the ABS module (ECU & HCU). I am a senior citizen and cannot afford anything near that. PLEASE... PLEASE HELP ME AND DEMAND THAT FORD RECALL THIS POTENTIALLY LETHAL DEFECT IMMEDIATELY.

Brakes are hard to press and pedal will travel to the floor. I hear hissing when depressing the pedal, i also hear a whistle when the pedal is all the way to the floor. The symptoms match the Ford communication of 13N02. My vehicle was assembled on April 2 2013, the recall only affected cars assembled through March 28, 2013. Sure seems like I have the same problem as the recall.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while attempting to apply the brake, the brake pedal went to the floor and failed to stop the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle was slowing down but not as designed. The contact pumped the brake pedal and turned the steering wheel to avoid crashing into another vehicle was stopping. The contact stated that while idling at a traffic light, the vehicle shut-off. The contact stated that the vehicle had to be shifted into park while stopped at a traffic light to prevent the vehicle from inadvertently turning off. The contact stated that the check engine, brake failure, and low oil warning lights were illuminated. The door latches also failed to lock the vehicle whenever the vehicle was started. The doors would suddenly lock or fail to lock as the contact continued to drive. The contact stated that she was unable to manually lock the doors occasionally. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who diagnosed that the door latch and the brake booster needed to be replaced. The brake booster, master cylinder, vacuum hose, two unknown sensors, and brake fluid were all replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the mileage was past the limit for the extended warranty. The approximate failure mileage was 165,000.

My brakes started feeling like the pedal went to floor, or if needed extra break at a light, there was none, took to get brake pads at 57,000 miles on tues and was told pads were fine but something bigger. I drove it 4 miles away to Moyer ford and dropped it off, after researching internet, it appears this break booster is a major issue with 2013 edge. $875 later, 2 days later, I now can drive my car. My research shows this issue will likely return, I want my vin reported with this issue.
