Edge SEL 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 74,000 miles

I have a 2014 Ford Edge SEL with about 75,000 miles and the stereo audio also stopped working on cold days below 40 degrees F. The radio is on and changes stations but no sound. Same for when I synch my phone, I can send and receive calls but no sound to/from speakers (very annoying). Wish there was a fix from Ford for this.

I too, have had issues with the radio not working in cold weather. I've tried to figure out when or why it is occurring. So far, it seems like it happens when the overnight temp is below zero (or some where near that temp). The car is parked outdoors (no garage). After driving for a while (say a half hour) I can make the radio come back on, if I park and come back a little later. I've tried to make it come on by turning the radio off/on and also shutting the car off and restarting it. Seems like I need to drive it and let some component warm up and then turn the car off for a few minutes. Maybe some main computer board or something needs to warm up and then be reset? Radio gives the appearance that it is working, just no output to the speakers. This originally happen around 35,000 to 40,000 miles, but I thought it was just a fluke. Now it seems to happen on those really cold nights. That might make diagnosis a bit tougher. Hopefully others will read this and help offer a solution.

Edge SEL 3.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 28,583 miles

2014 Ford Edge SEL at 48000km radio didn't have any response in cold weather, no sound, bluetooth etc doesn't work in extreme cold. I have been fortunate to have had video recorded the incident and shown it to service. it happens when temperature was below -25 c happened twice this year.

Service indicated they would inform manufacturer on next service near 60k. Again it was a cold weather issue. This is annoying as I had navigation issues in the past and they had to replace module, so I don't want it to recur. I see others have had similar issues with cold weather operation of the radio.

The radio stopped working this morning. We've had some really cold weather, so I'm not sure if that's got a hand in it or not, but the display showed it was tuned to a channel, but there was no sound. My phone, auxillary input, and CD player would also not produce any sound. (I don't have sattelite radio, so I could not test that). I have a total of 3 hours commuting daily - this is definitely not okay! I tried turning the car off and turning it back on, still no sound. After work today, I will see if it comes back on and update my post.

Since we bought the car the radio will intermittently not work. The screen indicates it is tuned to a station and when you turn up the volume it still does not work. We brought it in once, the technicians stated they could not replicate the problem. It still happens. It seems to occur more often if we are listening to the radio running on auxillary power, then when we start the car it does not work.

We have discovered that if you turn the vehicle off than back on it usually works again. Sometimes you need to do it twice though.

One occasion while this problem was occuring I was able to use Sync to make a hands free call.
