My 2014 Edge has developed a bad habit as of a week ago. When driving at various speeds a wrench warning light comes on and the vehicle goes into limp mode. At that point a message comes on that says See Owner's Manual. I pulled over and turned off the car and read the manual, which says it's a drivetrain problem. I started the car again after a few minutes and it ran with no problems for a while. I drove the car one more time that day before having that same problem again and took it in to get looked at. For whatever reason no codes are recorded. I know this because when I took it to the mechanic a day later they said, there were no codes and it ran fine for them. The next day it wouldn't start at all! There are at least a hundred videos on YouTube with this problem on many Ford Edge model years and the same for many Ford trucks.

Had it towed back over to the shop and they changed out spark plugs and cleaned out the fuel system and engine. This fixed the problem for a week, until it started acting up on a busy interstate with a very small shoulder lane a couple hundred miles from home while on my way to an important medical appointment. I stopped the car and turned it off and on, it ran long enough to get me off that death trap interstate with speeding semi's before limping out on me again as I pulled into a motel parking lot last night.

Typing this message from said motel the next morning a few hours before my appointment time and wondering what to do next. Hoping to get to see a doctor I've been waiting most of the year to see and wishing I could just trade this thing in, get something reliable. Also hoping I don't croak before getting to see the doctor if I can't see him today. At least if I do, it will make for a great story for Ford and maybe get NHTSA's attention about this problem.

2014 Ford Edge with 33000 miles. Lost power. Thankfully while entering a gas station and not on the freeway. I had it towed to a Ford dealer. I didn't trust to keep driving it. It was not covered under a recall which I find disappointing because it's a known fault and dangerous but it was covered under my extended warranty. The tech told me only certain yrs and vin #s where recalled. That made no sense if my vehicle had the same failure. I just got it back today after the repair so I hope it's truly fixed.
