Additionally, the vehicle lost motive power after coming to a complete stop. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 123,000.

The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the check engine warning light would suddenly illuminate along with an audible chime, the vehicle would no longer accelerate when pressing the accelerator pedal and the vehicle's speed would reduce. After stopping the vehicle the engine would remain on but the vehicle would no longer drive forward or in reverse. After turning the engine off and restarting the vehicle, the failure would self-correct and the vehicle would operate as normal. The contact indicated that the failure had occurred on multiple occasions and had also occurred while driving on a busy freeway. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The contact was concerned that the failure was due to a faulty throttle body. The failure mileage was 87,000.
