Faulty engine design leads to head gasket failure, engine misfire and stall. Engine stall can cause loss of vehicle motive and braking by loss of vacuum assisted braking. Dealer just completed service on this vehicle and reported the failure after completing repair on another defective part, the flexplate assembly. After completing repairs advised it likely has coolant intrusion issue. Did not inform customer about the TSB showing FORD determined the block is defective and should be replaced at customer cost. Ford has known about this issue since about 2011. These engines need to be recalled. Repair data available to mechanics and on popular video sites show that Fords updated block removes two water paths that interfere with head gasket seating on 2015 - 2019 Ford Edge 2.0L EcoBoost engines. This is a known manufacturer defect that puts owners and occupants in uneeded danger due to Ford's refusal to recall and rectify these engines. There are multiple reports of these engines failing for this issue with as few as 30,000 miles. This engine is also installed in multiple other Ford and Lincoln vehicles including focus, fusion, taurus, Escape, edge, mkz, mkc, and nautilus.

While during my 2016 ford edge to my daughters house, started going up a hill and as I was attempting to accelerate my speed kept reducing. When I returned home my husband took my car to an independent mechanic who ran diagnostic test which showed cylinder 2 misfiring. Upon further inspection coolant level was low but no leaks were noted. Mechanic stated water pump needed to be replaced to prevent further possible damage to engine. Called local ford dealer to see if they could confirm diagnosis, we were told to diagnose they would charge 165. Unfortunately on a fixed income and cannot afford! After researching this problem online it appears this is a common issue with 2016 ford edge and while there was a recall issue on some 2016 ford automobiles with the same issues, ours is not included!? I believe this should be recalled as it appears this was a known issue with ford cars, especially the Ecoboost, which is what we have

Started months ago on the highway, now in the streets too. Press the gas, car goes then suddenly loses power. Going at 60 mph on highway, car suddenly starts to go slow, and pressing the gas doesn't move the car not even a mile higher. Semi trucks begin to honk horns at you. Afraid now to take highway again. Soon as I exit highway, press the gas and the car doesn't want to shift, almost as if it gets stuck. Continue driving on street and when turning, the car doesn't want to go. Ford had it for 3 days but didn't find anything. Have read posts and found one person with same issue that said it's code 2111, having to do with the throttle. So many people with the same issue and no recalls. It's dangerous to drive on highway now.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, she heard a rattling sound under the hood of the vehicle. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was then taken to Auto Zone where it was placed on a diagnostic machine and the contact was informed that the vapor canister was faulty. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine long block had cracked and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that prior to the failure, she had notified the dealer that she had lightly tapped the accelerator pedal however, the vehicle quickly accelerated without warning. The contact applied extra pressure on the brake pedal to stop the vehicle however, the contact lightly struck the bumper of another vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the VIN was previously included in The Customer Satisfaction Program for 22N12 and NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V413000 (Power Train). The contact stated that on another occasion after refueling the vehicle, she noticed that the fuel gauge reading failed to display correctly. The manufacturer was notified of the failures and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not covered under warranty, and no further assistance was provided. The adaptive cruise control will slam on the brakes when passing a large truck in an adjacent lane at highway speeds. It seems to be most prevalent when it is clear and sunny. The vehicle thinks there is an obstacle in our lane. The symptoms are the same as those outlined in a recall issued for the 2015-2016 Ford F-150 trucks.

Car stalls out and loses power and symptoms have the potential to be fatal. This usually happens under acceleration and has almost caused 2 rear-end accidents. As I accelerate the car thumps when the engine stalls and then the car loses all acceleration. This sudden loss of power is especially dangerous when happening on the highway or ramp getting up to the highway. These are the two places it consistently happens. The car has been taken to the dealership to be serviced 5 times for the same issue without resolution. I won't let my family drive the car for fear of injury to her. I'm paying for a defective product. I do not feel safe in this vehicle and I don't get the sense that Ford is trying to fix the root issue.

Driving down the interstate at 80 mph in motion when the car started to go into 'limp mode.' The dash stated there was 'low oil pressure' and 'check airbags.' Within the next three seconds the car started to lose power and power steering was shut off. The car started slowing down at a dramatic rate leaving me stranded. After the car killed the engine I was not able to restart the car. The car would turn over, but not hold power it would die immediately. I was finally able to start the car after waiting 10 minutes. The car would start and hold power. The check engine light and airbag light were on. I was only able to drive a mile before the problem would start all over again. This has happened to me on multiple occasions averaging about every 2,000 miles. It has happened in blizzard conditions, rain, and on a 50 degree day. Also while driving 35 mph and on a highway got 55 mph. I have taken the car into Ford and they told me there is nothing wring with the car. When plugging the car into the system to look for the problem they stated nothing shows up, even with the check engine light on.

2016 Ford Edge titanium approx. Mileage 7600 date: Friday September 8, 2017 time: Approximately 12:45 P.M. location: Southbound on waukegan road/us highway 41 near intersection with casimir pulaski drive (lighted intersection), waukegan Illinois driving southbound in left lane on highway 41 at about 40 mph. Right lane closed for construction work. Weather clear and dry. Roadway flat and straight. Sudden lack of acceleration even with increased pressure on gas pedal. Dash service light (orange warning) 'hill assist not available' with wrench. Also noticed airbag light was lit. Hit brake pedal to light up the warning lights for traffic behind me and also turned on the hazard flashers. Car engine continued to run but the car would not go above about 1 mph. Since right lane and shoulder were not accessible, I turned left at pulaski drive to get onto a slower-moving, less-trafficked roadway and pulled to the shoulder. Car was barely moving. Turned off the ignition and waited approximately 20-30 seconds. Turned the car back on and no error messages were displayed. Tested forward and reverse gears while on the shoulder and felt normal acceleration. Made a U-turn back onto pulaski drive, turned left onto highway 41/waukegan road and drove home. Service on 9/12/17 ' only error code was B1111 described by tech as 'ABS parking brake', code cleared by tech. Service on 9/19/17 ' complete diagnostics run ' no error codes. No resolution.

My vehicle was accelerating on a straight section of road during rush hour (had at least a half tank of gas). I was pushing normally on the gas pedal to keep moving and suddenly, without warning, the car decelerated and lost power as if I ran out of gas. It came to a complete stop. No limp mode, I had to coast to a place to pull over. Power was on and all components were working except there was no gas when I pushed the gas pedal. The wrench icon lit up on the dashboard. When I turned off and then restarted the engine the gas pedal worked so I put it in "drive" and accelerated cautiously. After five minutes, I lost power again, just before entering a major highway. The sudden loss of power could have killed me on a highway, or in the middle of any busy intersection, not to mention harm other drivers and passengers. I took it to Ford service the next day and they said I had a bad throttle body. It was not contaminated, it just failed. They stated that this was the first time they saw a failed throttle body in a 2016 Edge. (13,000 miles). My husband said it happened to him once earlier this year, and he immediately called the service department for advice. He was instructed to turn the car off and it should be fine after starting it back up. It worked. That may be a short term solution - to get home. It is not a solution to this life threatening problem.

I entered on to I-95 interstate on ramp. I looked back over my left shoulder to merge safely along with accelerating and the car decelerated. My 18 year old son was with me and he said you need to accelerate. I told him I could not accelerate. The dashboard displayed a wrench icon along with a message saying see owners manual. After barley being able to pull over to safety I shut the engine off waited a few minutes and restarted it. We were able to restart the car and get home. When I called the dealer they said it's the throttle body. I have a 2016 Ford Edge with 6,400 miles.

The incident has happened four times, so far, twice within two minutes. Driving down a straight, flat road and the car completely shuts down. Accelerator does not work, air bag sensors deactivate, complete loss of control. Cars behind had to swerve into a ditch to avoid hitting my car because the car completely shuts off with no notice, going 50 mph. Now happens every time I drive vehicle for longer than 20-25 minutes. Hill start assist not available message appears and car shuts down without warning traveling at high speeds. Service engine light appears and service engine notification. Airbag sensor off light illuminates. I've found this has been a known problem since 2002 and there have been no recalls. They are still manufacturing malfunctioning etb in vehicles and someone is going to die. Thankfully, I was not on the expressway. I have this issue documented on video, as it happens every time I drive my 2016 Ford Edge. My Ford Edge had a sudden deceleration and a dangerous loss of power in the middle of a busy city intersection causing oncoming traffic to come to a halt. The SUV is now causing a traffic jam with my family looking at on coming traffic. Thank goodness we did not have an accident. Right after that episode, the transmission jerked so hard we bounced forward and backwards in our seats. Again, the car had a loss of power. Since that time, my Ford Edge experienced two other episodes. Ford marketed and sold this vehicle as new with a defective electronic throttle body control. How do I know that? when I took the car to bob tomes Ford dealership, I was told the throttle body control had been replaced at 1000 miles. They sold the car as a new vehicle off the lot without revealing it had been driven as a demo vehicle. We bought the car with 1800 miles thinking it had been on the lot for long period of time and driven from another dealership. Ford owes the consumer an advertising campaign about he dangers of sudden unintended deceleration and educate consumers about their pre-purchase legal rights once facts are known. Thousands of owners are in danger because Ford refuses to act morally and choosing profit before responsibility.

The vehicle was in motion in moderate traffic going approximately 45mph when the engine unexpectedly shutoff and the accelerator became non-responsive. Was able to carefully coast the vehicle to the shoulder, put in park, and restart the vehicle. Extremely concerned that this happened as I'm traveling out of state with my family on vacation. We purchased this vehicle brand new within the last 60 days and it has less than 2,000 miles on it. We thought we were getting rid of a lemon vehicle when we traded in for this, but although our last vehicle had a lot of issues it wasn't nearly as concerning or dangerous as this 1 issue with the Ford Edge. There should be an immediate nationwide recall.

I was driving a rental Ford Edge and slowed down for a traffic signal. Without warning, the accelerator would not work and SUV was moving at < 10 miles/hr without any acceleration. On contacting the roadside assistance from rental company, I was told that this can happen with this vehicle at 10-12,000 mile mark. I was told to turn off the ignition and turn off after few seconds and it should work. On doing so, I was able to drive for few blocks but the vehicle stalled again. There was no warning on SUV's screen. I was also told by the tow truck operator that he has towed few vehicles with similar issues.
