For 2 months, now, when I fill my gas tank, the vehicle fails to start. After several attempts it chugs then fires up. 2 days ago it started to make a strange humming noise that would last about 5 seconds then stop about 3-4, then come back. Sometimes the hum lasted longer. Happened for a good 5 miles. Then, as I-??m driving, the engine starts choking and the rpm gauge is bouncing. Then it sounded like it wanted to shut off so I immediately pulled over. I called a local Ford dealership. I took it there and the garage manager says it sounds like a fuel pump and scheduled me to come in this week for a diagnostic or code check. Didn-??t say it wasn-??t safe to drive.

There are times when I press on the gas and the engine bogs down and the engine starts running very ruff. I can only do about 2 miles per hour, which is very dangerous as I am in traffic on city streets and on the highway, when this happens. The only thing that fixes it is to pull over, shut the car down, and then restart. This has happened 5 times since I bought the car in December of 2019 and it is only January of 2021.

The car has had problems with stalling for several months, when in motion both at low speeds and up to 40 mph, as well as at idle. Each time the check engine light has illuminated. It has given codes P2196 and P1450. We took it to the dealer for diagnosis, and they said it needs the fuel vapor canister purge valve replaced. I noticed that Ford issued a safety recall for the Focus, 18S32, for a faulty vapor canister purge valve, and have found much evidence on the internet that this is a common problem across Ford product lines. This is not covered under either the emissions or the powertrain warranty.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. While driving at an unknown speed, the contact noticed an abnormal fuel odor inside the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to bill marsh Ford (408 w mile rd, kalkaska, mi 49646, (231) 258-9192) where it was diagnosed that there was a hole in the fuel line and it needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the fuel odor returned. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 29,980.

Takata recall autonation has sent a letter for recall on takata airbags but has no replacement airbags.there is also a recall for corroded gas tank. I see none of these in your recall database so I assume the recall has been rescinded.I was waiting for airbags to come in to get it repaired together. That never happened. This is a complaint about the process which leaves it unresolved by Ford.

My vehicle was accelerating on a straight section of road during rush hour (had at least a half tank of gas). I was pushing normally on the gas pedal to keep moving and suddenly, without warning, the car decelerated and lost power as if I ran out of gas. It came to a complete stop. No limp mode, I had to coast to a place to pull over. Power was on and all components were working except there was no gas when I pushed the gas pedal. The wrench icon lit up on the dashboard. When I turned off and then restarted the engine the gas pedal worked so I put it in "drive" and accelerated cautiously. After five minutes, I lost power again, just before entering a major highway. The sudden loss of power could have killed me on a highway, or in the middle of any busy intersection, not to mention harm other drivers and passengers. I took it to Ford service the next day and they said I had a bad throttle body. It was not contaminated, it just failed. They stated that this was the first time they saw a failed throttle body in a 2016 Edge. (13,000 miles). My husband said it happened to him once earlier this year, and he immediately called the service department for advice. He was instructed to turn the car off and it should be fine after starting it back up. It worked. That may be a short term solution - to get home. It is not a solution to this life threatening problem.

Car has died multiple times at high rate of speed. Dealer says no codes thrown. Used 3 quarts oil before 5000 miles. Exhaust smoked horribly. Deceleration issues constantly. Last time it died on freeway dealer said throwing codes and engine needs replacing. They have had vehicle since December 14 2016. They tried to replace heads and it blew up engine. Car has less than 9000 miles. Vehicle died multiple times on freeway. Deceleration issues occurred both from full stop and acceleration on freeway entrance ramp. Vehicle has been in shop 3-4 times since purchased in late August 2016.

Vehicle traveling on interstate at 70 mph. Suddenly vehicle lost power which resulted in loss of power steering and acceleration, but instrument panel still had functionality. Had to coast to side of interstate with no throttle and came to a stop. Vehicle still was on but no acceleration. Turned off vehicle and restarted, throttle worked. Took vehicle directly to dealership were throttle body was replaced. Service states this problem has been common. This is a very dangerous issue that needs to be addressed. Luckily no accident occurred because of loss of power on interstate.

Vehicle mileage - approximately 5300 fuel level approx. 3/4 full fuel line connection separation, causing fuel starvation to engine, engine stoppage, loss of power steering and brakes. Enroute 25 July 2016 on us hwy 64 from durango, co to taos, nm, cresting 10,500 ft mountain pass, starting downgrade, vehicle started to misfire, fuel smell, fluctuating RPM between 1500 and zero, then engine stopped, losing power to steering and braking, making it difficult to safely pull to a stop. Fortunate to locate a level pull-off. Upon exiting vehicle, observed strong fuel smell, but no fuel leak in engine compartment or under vehicle. Opened fuel tank filler cap and vented with filler tool. Attempted to start vehicle without success, but strong fuel smell and fuel spill generated under the vehicle. Pushed vehicle away from fuel spill. Attempted to start vehicle a second time without success, generating another fuel spill from cover panel under LH passenger. Removed cover and found outboard of the two fuel lines separated at connection. Reassembled fuel line connection, believing the connection to be secure. Successfully restarted vehicle and re-secured cover panel. Proceeded to destination, but with approximately fuel level, indicating that approximately fuel level lost during fuel line separation. Upon reaching destination, removed LH cover panel to re-access fuel line connections. Pulled and released fuel line connection, reassembled connection, pressed the green locking tab and pulled connection to ensure it was secure. Upon return home 28 July 2016 dealer service technician inspected fuel line connections, found them secure, added tie wraps to both fuel line connections to prevent green locking tab from disengaging unless tie wraps are removed. 29 July 2016 call to Ford customer service stated this was a non-issue since service returned vehicle to user.

Vehicle has repeated delays when pressing accelerator petal followed by sudden bursts of power. While changing lanes on an interstate highway there was no response in acceleration and power was lost. Rapid, aggressive petal pressure restored power after 10-14 seconds. Crash narrowly averted.
