problem #3

Apr 302016

Edge Titanium 3.2V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 6,214 miles

Ford replaced all the tail lights under warranty once.

It was only a matter of a couple months until the condensation came back in the replacement units.

Clearly there's a problem with Ford lights.

Edge Sport V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 29,000 miles

Both taillights had condensation in them, so the dealer drilled small hole in drivers side, no problem since.

They tried with passenger side, cracked the lens, replaced with new lens and it also has condensation in it.

I then took it to an actual ford dealership, they want $800 to replace the lens saying that is the only way they can fix.

Ridiculous cost. I'm obviously not paying that much to replace a taillight lens.

Edge Sport 2.7L-Liter Turbocharged V

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100 miles

There has been Fog/Condensation in the rear tail lights since I purchased the vehicle in June of 2016. I've asked about it several times when I've taken it in for service. The Service Manager tells me it's not bad enough for Ford to replace. My vehicle now has 35,000 miles on it and there is still fog in the tail lights. I will once again ask about it when I take it in for service and before the 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty expires.

Update from Jan 24, 2019: The Service Manager submitted new pictures for Ford to review. They approved replacing the tail lights. There have been so many complaints the replacement tail lights are on backorder.

I am just pleased they are finally going to take care of the problem.

Update from Mar 26, 2019: Still waiting on the tail lights. The new lights have the same issue as the old ones. I assume Ford is going back to the drawing board to make design adjustments. In the meantime, condensation remains in my tail lights.

Update from May 29, 2020: This issue was never resolved.

It appears the new models have the same problem.
