Think this may be because of the snow/ice? The top of the Edge including the front panel of the vista roof was covered in snow when I left for the day. Went and ran my errands, nothing happened to cause a crack, nothing hit the roof but now, snow melted, there is a huge crack from the front drivers corner to the back of the glass. Dealer says they don't replace the top glass that I have to take it to a glass repair shop. This issue was the "tip of the iceberg" so am now looking to trade in and get away from Ford altogether.

I thought it was water trapped due to the weather (frozen) and realized it was actually cracked.
called dealers service, Ford Canada and was told that glass is not covered in my Premium Care extended warranty.
Ford Canada was not helpful and flatly denied any issues with the panoramic glass window.
The car has been lightly used and is under proper care.
Will never buy Ford ever again! Poor services from both Ford Canada and the dealers (contacted two).

I found a crack in the front sunroof glass (part #: FT4Z*58500A18*C) about two weeks ago. I thought it is a quality issue. I contacted my dealer and they checked the crack last Friday. They told me the crack was caused by a hit and they pointed out a tiny white dot on the top of the glass. So they told me I have to pay for the repair. The quotation they gave me is CAD1700.22 for part, and CAD312.37 for labour.
I have two comments about this:
1. The glass must have some quality problem if such a small hit can cause such a big crack. I checked on the internet and found many complaints on Ford sunroof glass.
2. The price is too high for a piece of glass. There are only 6 screws to touch for replacing the glass and it shouldn’t take more than an hour to do the job, but this dealer wants to charge me $312.37 for the labour. This is not a decent business.

I'm in the UK. Love the car, noticed crack at the back of my glass sunroof going from right to left once I started opening sun roof after the winter. It looks like broken glass or watermark as another member described it. No sign of impact, looks manufacturing error to me but dealer says not. I'll update when I find out more, I'm concerned it could leak.

Sunroof cracked while driving on the highway in more than one place. Nothing hit it, but dealer insists it was contacted by something that caused the crack. How anything hit the top of the closed sunroof while on a highway is beyond me. Ford will not cover it under any warranty because they say it was caused by a rock.

I bought my Ford Edge 2106 less than 6 months ago, it has about 5,000 Km. In March, Guess what?!!! the sunroof cracked all the way. This has nothing to do with the hot/cold weather because it was way colder back in December and January. Ford better do a recall on this issue since it is related to safety before they get sued.

Noticed what I thought was water trapped in the glass. Took it into the local ford dealership and have been told the glass is broken.
They are telling me something has hit it but there is no impact point and I'm sure if something hit the roof and caused it to crack that I would of noticed or if something had dropped onto the car that it would of been on the car when I returned. (As I'm assuming to break reinforced glass it would have to be something sizeable to cause it to crack)
On the day I noticed it we had snow the night before and the car had a layer of snow on the roof.
I was told here in the UK that they have not heard of any issues with the roof and are saying it will cost £1,700 + to get fixed.
I have added a photo. The crack is by the control buttons in the centre.

This seems to be a complaint that others have already filed. The panoramic vista roof glass developed a series of cracks after less than a month and 2,000 miles of driving. Clearly a manufacturer defect in the glass or the installation. I am waiting to hear back on whether or not the repair will be covered. I certainly hope that it will as there is a demonstrated flaw in this panel and it is clear that there was no impact to the glass in my vehicle. I will update this as soon as I have heard back from Ford...hopefully to confirm that it has been addressed without issue. Apart from this annoyance, the car has been terrific.

Just search the web, folks. Ford knows there is a problem but will not admit it! The glass I had to purchase to replace my "spider-webbed" sun roof glass was tempered glass... THEIR ORIGINAL GLASS WAS LAMINATED AND it delaminated!! Ford knows this so they changed the type of glass in replacements - which are expensive...
We have 3 Fords: 1955, 2016 RS, and 2016 Edge. We have always been faithful to Ford and yet they told us to "Pound-sand" or tough luck. Shame on Ford for not replacing our sunroof glass. What happened to a company which stands behind their product? "Behind" has a new meaning: Hide Behind a poor decision.
I bought this car second hand and within the first month had to have all of the rear lights replaced due to condensation building up in them after rain, car washing, or just heavy morning dew. In addition, after 22,000 miles I noticed that the steering wheels vibrated while the car was idling which didn't happen before. The dealer said that was normal - NORMAL!
I am disappointed with my purchase AND Ford's unwillingness to admit any problems. CHECK THE WEB! This glass problem is NOT NEW and yet they won't admit that laminated glass instead of tempered glass SHOULD have been installed. I HAVE THE LAMINATED GLASS and will keep it for proof.
I invite Ford to step up and do the right thing.
