problem #1

Edge SEL 4 cyl

The leak appears to be at the corner of the windshield on the driver side above the pillar. I called Ford dealer and we set up appointment to diagnose the problem. Had to leave the vehicle at 11:00am. 1:01 I received a call from them stating where the leak was coming from. The leak was running down the pillar to the floor. Under the floor mat was white with all kinds of fibers growing. I was told the headliner would need removed, the plastic panel needed removed to be sealed inside and probably there is rust inside that will require body work and new paint to fix the problem right. Just removal of those parts not body work was estimated at just over $1000. The repair employee had went ahead and put caulk on the outside which should not require more than 5 minutes even to do cleaning first. They claimed the time spent so far was 3.5 hours. Charge (over $700). I was told the diagnostic cost was $186.00 when the vehicle was dropped off. Why did they continue with repair that I did not authorize? Answer; So they could charge me extra! After explaining to them the unfairness they dropped the price to $400.00. Not sure how they could charge me for 3.5 hours of work done when they only had the vehicle 2 hours! We paid $1800.00 for an extended warranty when we purchased the vehicle but could not help with the cost.
