We bought this Edge used and less than a month after we started hearing the rattle during start up and during idle. We took it to a Ford Dealership who diagnosed the problem to be a cracked flex plate and it will be $2200.00 to fix.

I had previously owned 2 Ford Explorers with the last one surviving to 260,000miles. I "was" a happy Ford customer, but sadly no longer. In 2017 I decided to downsize to the Edge, and was hoping to experience a similar experience as I had with the Explorers I had owned but never expected the flywheel to crack at such an early age on the Edge. Then I found out that this is a problem that has been occurring to Ford Edge vehicles since 2015. That really got me angry, especially since Ford has done nothing to correct the situation!! Plus, my local Ford dealer offered no sympathy or discount to repair the problem.
I have since found that there is a Class Action lawsuit against Ford for ignoring the Flywheel problem. I am hoping that I may be compensated eventually in some way or another if there is a positive outcome for the owners. I will be selling my Edge ASAP and finding a vehicle that has a better track record!
Bye Bye, Ford...

This cracked flex plate is a known problem and I am hearing that the replacement flex plate still has the same problem. I certainly hope they have redesigned this part.
