Putting the car in drive and would drive a few feet suddenly, all the panel lights ( check engine, abs, hazard control, electric parking brake, ) literally every light on the panel would turn on and engine would stall causing the steering to become hard to control. This happened 3 times within a 2 week span then, I brought it into dealership and was told my coolant had leaked into my cylinders causing the engine to become ruined and that-??s why I was having the problems with the engine and steering. My car has only 59000 miles.

Loss of steering - Errors: "Steering Assist Fault", "Hill Start Assist Not Available", "Service Advance Trac", Adaptive Steering Fault". I had been driving the car on a hot day approximately 30-50 miles that day, lots of stops, last stop was order pick up. I did not turn the car off and when I went to pull out of the parking lot, I lost steering and errors flashed. I was able to turn the car off and back on- errors disappeared. I drove it to a gas station thinking maybe I was running out of gas, I pumped the gas and attempted to pull out, it did it again. A few minutes later, I was able to move the vehicle to a parking spot. Waiting with engine off and attempted again and error codes gone and as able to drive approximately 12 miles home. When I arrived codes were still gone, decided to move to another spot, and then the codes popped up again. Towed vehicle to Ford Dealership - Codes were not present when Ford received my car. They stated it was the battery, charged for battery replacement and diagnostics - $400. Drove it maybe 20-30 miles to run errands and same codes popped up and lost power steering while driving low speed over railroad tracks. Towed back to Ford - this time they want $2500 to replace the steering equipment - there has always been a clicking in the steering but Ford stated it was normal and nothing was wrong. Ford did replace the steering equipment at 40k miles under warranty, now a little over 80k miles and it has to be replaced again" Seems like there may be more to this, I shouldn't have to replace this once, let alone twice in 80k miles. This could have easily caused an accident if at higher rate of speed, an inexperienced driver or one with less upper body strength to be able to move the steering wheel. I noticed a recall for 2016 models and a lot of similar situations on the web for customer complaints. Could there be something going on with this year as well" I have not repaired vehicle yet....

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated when he started the vehicle, he noticed that the steering warning light had illuminated. The contact stated that he was able to steer the vehicle, but the steering wheel was traveling more than normal before a turn to the left or to the right was completed. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the steering gears and steering wheel needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact was advised by the dealer that there was a recall for older model vehicles for the loss of power steering; however, the VIN was not included. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V250000 (Steering). The failure mileage was approximately 59,000.

My 2017 Ford Edge sport is having the same known adaptive steering issues that were covered on the previous two year models. I-??ve received the warning light twice now that the adaptive steering system is initializing and I have to turn the car off or Manually select the ok option to acknowledge the msg. Nothing else happened or was obviously noticeable with the first time the light came on. Couple weeks later I had parked at a gas station 5 min from my house was out of my car less than couple min back in my car there-??s no lights on to warn me of Anything when I start my car but once I pulled out into the road my steering wheel was at an obvious left turn position in order to be able to drive the car forward. I was less Than.69 miles from my house once on the road I made three total left hand turns to get to my home. And home the left last left hand turn into my driveway the steering wheel did something awkward and somehow corrected it-??s self while pulling into my driveway and I parked then before turning off the car it started flashing again now this was the second time total I saw adaptive cruise initializing. Ive not gotten any other warning Info at all and the car hasn-??t said or displayed any service due or required on anything just initializing and that-??s it. I turned the car off and it-??s been two days and hasn-??t repeated anything. Yet. But the characteristics of my issue are an exact description of same car same model recall but not showing recalled for 2017 that. Can find. Could my car have been built in 2016 and in that been actually affected by the recall but somehow not included as one of the cars given model year Indicator?

The adaptive steering fault light came on. There is 58k on the vehicle. I know there has been the same issue on other Ford vehicles. I do not see a recall for this year and model.

Power Steering System went out while driving. A warning light for the Advanced Traction System came on shortly before the Power Steering went out. This caused me to hit a curb creating a tire blowout. I got both problems fixed and the mechanic stated the issue with the power steering was that a wire for the system was resting on the catalytic converter, which caused the wire to melt and create the power steering failure. The mechanic replaced the wiring and replaced the mounting for the wiring to prevent it from resting on the exhaust system. The defect was only inspected by the mechanic that repaired the vehicle. No insurance or police since I was lucky enough to make it home.

2017 Ford Edge titanium 57000 miles power steering has stopped and Ford will not help. The car still runs and I am driving without power steering. Local Ford says $ $3000 to fix. Warning lights of: "hill start assist not available"... (never had it anyway). "steering assist fault - service required" "service advance trac" - dashboard icon "stability control off" - dashboard icon... these warnings are on everytime I drive the car.. this started and first happened in mid Feb. 2020. It happened when I was backing out of a parking space. After a few feet it sort of stalled. I restarted and noticed immediately the lights and lack of power steering. Any help is appreciated. $3000 is a lot of money and I am surprised at the cost, lack of help from Ford and the fact that it is still running. Other wise it is a great car ! I have gone to youtube and discovered some electrical problems from others but nothing specific. Any help is great. Thanks.

While driving an alert came on that stated the steering assist needed service. I continued driving as I was in a remote area with no Ford dealership close by. The steering seemed a bit "loose" but the vehicle was operable. I parked the vehicle once I arrived at my destination with plans to bring it to my dealership when I returned from my trip. I started the vehicle a few days later and the display showed "steering loss stop safely", "service advancetrac" and "hill start assist not available" the vehicle could not be steered and had to be towed to the dealership.
