Edge SE 2.0L Ecoboost

  • Automatic transmission
  • 77,149 miles

Misfire in cylinder #2. coolant leaking at head gasket. Ford wants to replace engine 4-6k dollars. Took a chance on Bars Leak Head Gasket repair. Followed direction on bottle at 77149 miles to seal head gasket. Car now has 94000 miles on it and repair is still holding. No more codes at all and coolant There has been no decrease at all. I'll add another bottle if it starts to misfire again. I am actively looking to buy a new car and unload this one. The thing that pisses me off is that Ford knew they had a problem with the 2.0l EcoBoost engine but only installed a coolant level sensor as a fix. It was an attempt to get the car out of warranty so they could charge for a new engine. I'll never purchase another Ford product , ever.

Edge Titanium 2.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 114,428 miles

I am very upset with Ford. Over my lifetime I have owned about 5 Ford vehicles. The last two being Ford Edge. My previous 2011 model had to have turbo and air cooler replaced in excess of $5,000. Now, my 2018 Ford Edge Titanium has a misfire on #2 cylinder and was told it has a cracked block. The Ford technician stated that this is a known issue with Ford motors. The suggested repair is to replace the engine for $8500. Ford says it has too many miles and is too old for them to help with the repairs. This seems unreasonable for a car with only 114,428 miles that has been well maintained with routine maintenance performed at recommended intervals.

Edge SEL 2.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100,000 miles

Had a cylinder P0312 #2 misfire. I confirmed #2 plug some sort of issue because the plug was washed with no carbon on it at all and smelled of fuel. Replaced all four plugs. Car seemed to be okay for about 4K miles but then had the same code again, so at that time I went ahead and replaced all four coil packs. This seemed to work for about a week then the light came back on again - but this time it had not only the #2 misfire but also the P0316 code.

I then called Ford for a service appointment because I knew it was possibly a fuel injector or worse. Took over a month before they could look at it because of work backlog. Dropped the car off early on Jan 1 2023 for the Jan 3 appointment. Mid-afternoon, I received a phone call from Ford service department telling me that my wife's car needed a long block. I had to ask them to repeat what he said, I said... did you just tell me my wife needs a new engine? He replied yes. I said what is the cause? He said he didn't know why they would have to replace it and that there was a TSB stating to replace the engine due to the P0316. Thankfully this will only cost me $100 because of the extended warranty we purchased has that as a deductible.

I really feel for the folks that do not have an extended warranty because this is obviously a MAJOR problem and Ford should be replacing all engines with this issue. This is making me doubt my Ford loyalty and I have three Fords in my driveway. One being a 2014 Focus with the infamous junk automatic transmission that has gone through two clutches now which they wont cover because it was just outside the two year window since they last replaced it.

Edge

  • Automatic transmission
  • 41,400 miles

I buy new vehicles to avoid broken used cars, this is a "2018" Ford Edge that fit my needs. Driven 41,400 miles and annoying Engine light is ON! Took my car to the dealership, one of the professional mechanic said that Ford knows about this problem and said, "your Engine must be replaced", then ordered a new engine to replace. But now I wonder, what is going to go out next?!

Today just heard of Recall on Fords for Brakes, I was sent home, "drive carefully" and watch for any signs of motor overheating, "cut the engine off til cools off, then restart". I do not feel safe now, but can't trade this car in, I owe WAY too much! I wanted to complain here, in case all other records get lost.
