To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally report an ongoing and concerning issue with my 2022 Ford Edge. My vehicle has begun hesitating when pressing the accelerator and jerking between 20 mph and 40 mph. Some days the issue is worse than others, but it has progressively made the vehicle feel unreliable and unsafe to drive. At times, it feels as though the vehicle may break down while in motion. After researching this issue, I have found that many other Ford Edge owners are experiencing the same symptoms, with the torque converter frequently identified as the cause. This appears to be a widespread and recurring problem rather than an isolated incident. Additionally, the vehicle will coast between approximately 2,000 and 5,000$. This behavior is not normal and raises serious concerns regarding drivability, safety, and long-term damage to the transmission. Given how common this issue appears to be among Ford Edge vehicles, I strongly believe this warrants further investigation and the establishment of a recall. Owners should not be financially responsible for a known and recurring manufacturing defect. I am requesting that Ford address this issue promptly and take responsibility for repairs associated with this problem. I appreciate your time and look forward to a resolution. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Torque converter coming apart inside housing. Metal making its way into the transmission at about 87,000 miles. Dealership inspection was concluded and transmission replacement was recommended. No lights or messages due to problem. This issue results in shuddering and poor shifting along with potential transmission failure while driving, making it extremely unsafe.

At 67,000 miles the vehicle started lurching forward and then at one point the traction control light came on the dashboard and the vehicle stopped itself while driving, as if the brakes were being applied, but we weren-??t applying the brakes. After turning the car off and turning it back on, it drove with hesitation and was slipping between gears. Also, the front collision sensor has been coming on upon startup for quite some time. Took the car to the Ford dealership, and they determined that the torque converter was bad in the transmission and suggested a full transmission replacement. Ford agreed to cover $4000 of the $10,000 replacement. This means I would have to pay $6000 out of pocket to get a new transmission. We previously had a 2020 Ford edge and had the same exact problem but it was covered under the powertrain warranty as it only had 58,000 miles. At that time, we did a transmission rebuild at the dealership and the car never drove the same after that, which is the reason we bought the 2022 Ford edge, Not thinking we-??d have the same exact problem with the transmission.

The car was in a front end collision; the airbags did not deploy. Insurance said the car was reparable and fixed it; car was picked up from body shop on 07/19/2024. In May 2025, at only 3 years old, the transmission went out at 95,000 miles and was just replaced. Ford would not admit the accident had anything to do with the transmission going out on a 3 year old car. I was quoted almost $10,000 to replace it, but Ford "helped" and paid $4000 and I was left with the balance of $6200.

The powertrain control systems transmission shift solenoids is not responding as expected or is stuck in the on position. Some transmission gears may not being available resulting in delayed or harsh shifts into another gear. The vehicle has a shutter that didn-??t throw any codes. The vehicle was inspected at a Ford dealer and was told they see nothing wrong and no codes. Withing 30 miles the car was jerking badly and slipping gears. This caused uncontrollable harsh jerking and instant limp mode with no acceleration while driving on a highway. Drive it back to dealer service. Then I got a warning about the power train transmission. Upon further inspection was told the transmission needs completely replaced. There was absolutely no warning before the transmission completely failed. No way to tell it was failing. Ford refuses to handle the issue other than charging me for a new transmission. There are bulletins with similar problems to this year ford edge from the same factory but a few months different time span so no coverage is offered.

1st noticed problem- turning sharply to the right heard clunking coming from under car. Put car into reverse and felt like brake was on. But wasn't. Clunking stop when put back into forward and parked car. One hour later, drove a mile and a half home. No clunking until I backed into driveway. Clunking stopped after going in reverse about 10-15 feet. Drove to Dealer next morning. Couldn't get clunking to happen at quicklane. A few days later went to lunch and was backing into parking spot and clunking returned. After lunch drove to Dealer. They witnessed the clunking. Put car on hoist and checked obvious spots nothing found. Provided loaner and after determining differential was the problem. (almost $5000). Problem repaired next day. Had car about 2 weeks and clunking appeared when we were 3 hours away from Dealer. Called and made it to the dealer before closing. Clunking was noticed and this time at the dealer the transfer case was the issue. (Another $5000). They said this was the cause of the differential problems. After waiting for a week for ford to release a new transfer case, the car was again repaired. The mileage range of 400 to 1000 was given for the parts to get back in sync and stop making the clunking. We have now have about 600 miles after the last repair and an occasional clunking is still appearing. One more note. We will be traveling to Michigan from Florida in 2 weeks. (1771 miles). Is this car a lemon? Issues started after 60,000 checkup was done.
