About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
The car was in a front end collision; the airbags did not deploy. Insurance said the car was reparable and fixed it; car was picked up from body shop on 07/19/2024. In May 2025, at only 3 years old, the transmission went out at 95,000 miles and was just replaced. Ford would not admit the accident had anything to do with the transmission going out on a 3 year old car. I was quoted almost $10,000 to replace it, but Ford "helped" and paid $4000 and I was left with the balance of $6200.

The contact owns a 2022 Ford Edge. The contact stated while her son was driving approximately 40 mph, another vehicle turned into his lane and he attempted to apply the brake pedal but still crashed into the vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. The contact also stated the SOS system did not function either. The driver sustained injuries on his head, back, right wrist, left elbow, and left knee. The driver sought medical attention at the emergency room. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not drivable. The vehicle was towed first to a towing lot and then to a collision shop. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.
