I am buying this car weekly payments of $85. I told the place I am buying it from the check engine light keeps going on/off. They recommended an additive. When I took it to be inspected, it failed. I took it back. They added something, told me to fill the gas tank and drive it. I did. They claim its not under warranty, only covers engine and transmission. If the catalytic converter is not part of engine, why is the check engine light on? No one at the place has returned my many phone calls, except to take a message. Now I am paying $85 a week for piece of sh*t sitting in my driveway. I need my car help. I've only had it almost 8 months.

Well light came on and it wanted to stall. Be hesitation on its part..Ex-hubby and friend mechanic checked it out. Had to replace a cold pack, part of carburetor, and tune it up. Still acts up and engine light still on. They figure their must be a crack in electrical lines to my computer. Don't know what to do now!!! Can't afford a new computer and lines... Is there any recalls on this that anyone knows about??? Love my Escape wish I could afford a new one!!

P.S. All maintenance has been kept up on my SUV. Runs great and looks great besides this!

The check engine light started to come on almost a month after I bought my vehicle in October of 2004. I had it check out and the codes came back that it was a problem with the fuel injection. I have had this serviced and the Code thing reset and then a couple of months later the light is back on as well as the air bag light which comes on from time to time. I just hope that this does not turn into a cry wolf thing because I just deal with it and I'm used to them coming on and when there is a real problem (hopefully there won't be) I won't know it to be a true to the bone problem. This is frustrating to me because I like my vehicles to have all vitals up to par and no bells or whistle yelling at me.

Escape 2002 99,698 miles , Engine light came on , took in, code read cylinder 6 misfire, car shakes at 40 mphs hesitates speed , rpm go up and down , had tune- up done .changed spark plugs, and filter......... DID NOT HELP worked for 2 days then light came on again and car starts running ruff again , hesitates to speeds starts shaking back and forth when driving ... its been in the shop 8 times same problem ,keeps showing misfire cylinder 6 , one time misfire 3 , they have cleaned spring on 3 cylinder , put c-foam in engine to clean out carb built-up ..... what to do now ???? help its still in the shop got charges $ 95.00 for the c-foam job , it did help give me more power to car but only lasted 1 hour then engine light back on , car running ruff..... car lurching ,cant get enough power ?? rpm going crazy and lights flickering like its going to die .................
